Bai Zhu drew his Asauchi again, stepped over the shattered flagstones, and headed toward a corner of the inner city.
That mirrored feather was wedged beneath the base of a broken wall, with only a palm-sized section exposed. Behind it, the detector's rotating shaft clicked softly, and its lens immediately lifted, locking firmly onto Bai Zhu.
"So someone really is watching the livestream."
Bai Zhu used his blade tip to pick aside the rubble, revealing the detector in full.
A thin black wire was connected to its body, running through cracks in the wall and underground. Traces of Nen still lingered on it. The device had no offensive mechanisms, but its lens continued following him.
Bai Zhu raised his Asauchi.
The person on the other end of the screen seemed to panic. The detector immediately retracted, preparing to slip back into the mirrored feather.
The blade fell halfway, then stopped.
Bai Zhu grinned at the lens.
"Seen enough?"
"If you have, remember to pay the viewing fee. A scene like that would sell front-row tickets at Heavens Arena for at least a hundred thousand Jenny."
The detector did not move.
"Playing dead?"
Bai Zhu tapped the lens with the flat of his blade.
"I'll give you three days. If the money doesn't arrive, next time we meet, I'll hang you outside the Association entrance and sell tickets."
Ging approached from behind and crouched down to inspect the black wire.
He picked up a small piece of fallen metal casing and studied it for a moment.
Ging looked up at Bai Zhu.
"He likes causing trouble for others, but always prepares an escape route in advance. Once he's discovered, he deliberately leaves behind a few clues."
Bai Zhu fell silent for two breaths.
"Pariston?"
"Sounds like something he'd do."
