Chapter 220: Doctors
In the middle of the snowy mountains, within the forest, beneath a massive tree.
Several guards bundled in thick clothing shouted up at the tree, "Dr. Kureha! By order of the new king, come out and receive it!"
"Huh?!" A skinny old woman emerged from the hollowed-out dwelling inside the tree, a bottle of liquor still in her hand. She looked utterly unconcerned. "Has that idiot Wapol finally been overthrown? Who's the new king?"
"It's Lord Dalton!" At the guards' words, Kureha's hand loosened, and the bottle fell into the snow.
"Dalton?!" Kureha muttered uncertainly, "What order did he give?"
"Lord Dalton has ordered all doctors across the country to gather. He says a new law will be announced."
"Is that so? All right, wait for me!" She turned and entered the room. When she came back out, she was already wrapped in a warm fur coat. "What are you standing around for? Let's go."
With a medical case in hand, she strode over, climbed onto the sled the guards had brought, and shouted at the dazed guards in dissatisfaction.
"Ah, right!" The guards finally snapped out of it. They hurried behind the sled and began calling loudly. All the dogs rose at once, then raced toward the city amid wild barking.
"By order of the new king, Lord Dalton!" Guards filled the streets, announcing Dalton's decree and making the reindeer and doctor walking along the road stop in their tracks.
"Doctor." The blue-nosed reindeer, now much more grown and as large as a big dog, turned to the middle-aged man beside him, whose sideburns had gone white beneath his tall hat.
"Mm, I know. Let's wait and see." Dr. Hiriluk nodded, waiting for the guards to say more.
