The Sabaody Archipelago lay before the Red Line in the middle of the Grand Line, one of the routes many pirates took to the New World.
It was a mixed bag of fish and dragons, yet immensely prosperous and full of all sorts of things. Pirates, wealthy merchants, nobles, Marines—people of every identity and force could be found here. On the surface, everything seemed bright, but beneath that lay a land of darkness, where every kind of evil could be found.
Far out at sea, a fleeting afterimage shot forward like an arrow loosed from its bow. With a thunderous boom, the sea exploded, and a figure landed steadily on the island.
His long hair draped over his shoulders. He wore an ordinary shirt and black trousers, while a bowl-sized scar exposed above his collar drew countless looks.
His side profile was cold and stern, and his black, bright eyes held no trace of emotion.
Setting foot on this island once more, Ye Chen looked over the surrounding scenery and revealed a chilling expression. Then, without a sound, he vanished.
Areas 1 through 9 were lawless zones. Here, villains and pirates gathered, and every kind of shady transaction was brazenly displayed in the open.
Human trafficking grounds, slave auctions, slave-catching gangs—everything had become commonplace.
Several skeletons lay piled at the entrance. Judging by their tattered clothes, some had been Marines, while others had been pirates.
Recalling the heartbreaking memories etched in his mind, Ye Chen stood at the entrance and bared his white teeth. His entire face twisted grotesquely before returning to normal.
As he walked down the street, he occasionally saw burly men with savage faces or scars all over them, each one glaring fiercely.
At times, blood splashed from blades as fierce fights broke out. People died on the streets every moment.
Ye Chen's arrival made several thugs sneer. Gradually, a few of them began following behind him.
Ye Chen turned a blind eye to it all and deliberately headed into the darker areas.
"Kid, this is a robbery. Hand over all the money you have."
Before he had gone far, five vicious-looking men armed with large blades surrounded him, grinning viciously at Ye Chen.
Ye Chen raised his head slightly and looked at the thugs, each several heads taller than him. He pursed his lips, revealed a captivating smile, and then vanished from where he stood.
"What happened?!"
The five men surrounding Ye Chen trembled when he disappeared without a sound. They knew they had run into an expert.
Puff! Scalding blood suddenly sprayed out. A burly man with spiky hair lowered his head and saw the bloodstained hand protruding from his chest. Only then did he realize what had happened and scream.
"Aaah!"
The stench of blood filled the air. Ye Chen pulled back his hand and shook it. The surrounding grass looked as if it had been stained with red dye, vivid and beautiful.
Clatter! Weapons fell to the ground. The remaining four thugs turned deathly pale as they looked at their companion, who had died with his eyes wide open, terror filling their faces.
"Aaah!"
A scream rang out along with a flying arm. A one-eyed thug clutched his severed right arm and wailed miserably.
Crack!
Ye Chen appeared behind him, grabbed the thug's head with both hands, and gave a light twist. Amid a spray of blood, a headless corpse collapsed to the ground.
"Help!"
The bloody scene broke the remaining three men completely, and they ran toward the street outside.
A slash over five meters high tore through the ground. Severed bodies and scalding blood flew through the air, and two corpses slid three meters before collapsing in the middle of the street.
Across from them, rubble flew everywhere as an entire house was reduced to ruins.
Ye Chen vanished from the spot and appeared before the last man, staring at him coldly.
"Spare me! Please, let me go!"
The vicious man who had led them dropped to his knees and repeatedly kowtowed. The young man before him was definitely a demon. In the blink of an eye, his companions had been torn apart, filling him with unimaginable terror.
"Tell me how to get to the Drunken Auction House!"
Ye Chen looked down at the kneeling man, his eyes indifferent.
"Go straight from here, then turn right. You'll reach it. I heard an auction is about to begin. Please, let me go."
"Do you know a man named Elwin?" A chilling killing intent radiated from Ye Chen. He would never forget that name, even in death.
"My lord, I don't know him. I really don't know him."
The vicious man hurriedly shook his head, his face filled with terror.
Puff!
His head flew high into the air. Foul-smelling blood gushed from his severed neck. Ye Chen waved his hand, expressionless, and headed in the direction the man had indicated.
Along the way, many people looked at Ye Chen warily, especially when they saw the three dismembered corpses on the ground. The sight was horrifying.
There was no order here, only strength. Without strength, one deserved to be killed.
Ye Chen loathed these thugs to the core, because it had been street punks who had sold him to the auction house back then.
If possible, he was willing to become a demon and kill every last one of them.
The Drunken Auction House was the auction house that had bought Ye Chen back then. After two years, not only had it failed to collapse, it had risen to another level. It had grown from a small auction house into a medium-sized one, far grander than before.
Watching all kinds of people continuously enter the auction house, Ye Chen remained expressionless and prepared to follow them inside.
"Sorry, please show your invitation."
Outside the entrance, four burly men in black formal suits and sunglasses stopped Ye Chen.
Ye Chen raised his head, and his eyes turned cold, making the four men shudder.
"Is this enough?" Ye Chen took out his Marine rear admiral insignia and narrowed his eyes.
"So you're a Marine rear admiral. Please come in." With apologetic smiles, the four men immediately stepped aside and allowed Ye Chen into the auction house.
For now, Ye Chen did not want to cause a commotion, because he intended to leave everyone involved back then without a burial place.
After Ye Chen went inside, one of the four men outside said disdainfully, "A mere rear admiral dares to come here alone? He really doesn't know his place."
"Forget it. The higher-ups told us not to clash with the Marines. After all, we're only here to do business."
Ye Chen had no interest in knowing about the mockery outside. He casually found a seat in the very back and waited for the auction to begin.
Many people were already seated. The scene looked so much like it had back then, except this time, Ye Chen was sitting below as well.
Not long afterward, the doors closed, the entire hall dimmed slightly, and the auction officially began.
A tall beauty wearing a seductive bodycon skirt and black stockings stepped onto the auction stage. She gave everyone a flirtatious smile, and her crisp voice was even more suggestive.
"Welcome, everyone, to the Drunken Auction House. I believe we won't disappoint you."
"Miss An Meier, I want you. Would that be possible?"
Below the stage, a wealthy merchant greedily stared at An Meier's stocking-clad legs, his eyes full of lust.
"Haha, I'll offer ten million Beli!"
"Fifty million."
Countless people below joined in. An Meier's entire body exuded charm, and her barely concealed attire was enough to stir any man's hormones.
"There are many auction items today. If any boss is willing to spend five hundred million Beli, An Meier will let you enjoy bliss like a god tonight!"
Her alluring red lips seemed like a budding flower as An Meier lightly blew a kiss to everyone.
"Tonight, she'll be mine."
"With you?"
"Vixen."
The men were excited, but the women cursed under their breaths. A few fat women were especially consumed by jealousy.
"Then An Meier will be awaiting your arrival. Now, the auction officially begins!"
Many people in the group said that every awesome man needed a pet by his side, just like the world-weary Monkey King. Originally, this farmer hadn't planned to write that, but you readers are the bosses. I respect your choice, so I'll think about it later!
Since I've been so good to you all, how about giving me the votes in your hands?
