Background

Shi Wen began as an overworked, dissatisfied office employee with little closeness to his divorced parents or extended family. An official-looking email concerning the ranch of his late grandfather, Shi Jingbo, initially struck him as a scam, but an appointment through the government’s Anomaly Management system led him to investigate it. 1

At the service center, he learned that Shi Jingbo’s state-allocated ranch in J Province could only be inherited by a relative who met supernatural bloodline requirements. Shi Wen’s medical examination confirmed a faint but awakened Qilin Bloodline, making him the only eligible heir to the 3,000-mu property. He was warned that leaving his abilities unused could cause his bloodline to degenerate. 2
