Background / History

Rocks led the Rocks Pirates, a criminal force that dominated its era through raids, destruction, and intimidation. Though commonly called a crew, the group functioned as an alliance: its officers retained their own factions, territories, and followers, and followed Rocks only while their interests aligned 1 14.

He acquired Beehive Island as the alliance’s base by deceiving the World Government. After offering to capture the gold-rich former prison island for payment, Rocks accepted the reward and kept the island for himself 2.

Rocks’s true identity is Davy D. Jibeck, a descendant of the nearly erased Davy Clan and the legendary Davy D. Jones. His homeland was God Valley, where his wife Alice, their son Teach, and other surviving clan members sought refuge 17.

His ambition was to overthrow the World Government and become the ruler of the world. He believed this required two legendary Devil Fruits—one connected to Elbaf—as well as the power of the Frozen Giant Warband 3 44.

Personality

Rocks is fiercely ambitious, prideful, and aggressive. He struggles to accept rejection from people he considers valuable, as shown when Annus refused to join his campaign against Harald and Rocks immediately challenged him to a duel 7.

Despite his cruelty and world-conquering ambitions, Rocks is deeply protective of his family and clan. At God Valley, he prioritized escaping with Alice and Teach over fighting the God’s Knights, refusing to abandon them even while pursued by seemingly immortal enemies 25. He later entrusted them to Yale when he realized he could not protect them alone 26.

Following God Valley, Rocks becomes more calculating. He recognizes that the Rocks Pirates failed because its members were too self-interested to support his ambitions, leading him to pursue a secret network built on absolute loyalty rather than another public pirate crew 44.

Conflict with Annus and Harald

After Annus refuses to help force Harald into abandoning the World Government, Rocks challenges Annus to a full-strength duel. The clash ends inconclusively, with Rocks unable to overcome Annus’s future sight and elementalization 7 8.

God Valley Incident

Rocks leads the invasion of God Valley publicly under the pretext of rescuing Shakuyaku and seizing treasure, while secretly seeking his family and the Davy Clan 20 25. After rescuing his clansmen, he discovers that captured members have been transformed into demonic enemies by the God’s Knights 25.

Imu then appears through Saturn’s body, identifies Rocks as Davy Clan blood, and uses Black Transformation Domination to turn him against his own allies and family 30.

Defeat and Survival

Annus, Roger, and Garp combine their strength to subdue transformed Rocks. Annus’s awakened lightning attack weakens Rocks’s defenses, and Ragnarok finally breaks the transformation and restores him to normal 33.

Afterward, Rocks accepts Annus’s authority as repayment for saving his life. He entrusts Alice and Teach to Annus’s protection as God Valley collapses and the Rocks Pirates disband 33 34.

Post-God Valley Plans

At Water 7, Rocks recovers and reunites with Alice and Teach. Learning that former officers have claimed territories and formed their own crews, he decides never to rebuild the Rocks Pirates 38 44.

Instead, he begins planning a hidden network that can gather the “key,” legendary Devil Fruits, and the Frozen Giant Warband needed to challenge Mary Geoise 44. He remains in the Blue Sea after Annus, Alice, and Teach depart for Sky Island 47.
