The enemy had arrived suddenly, and the battle ended just as quickly.
But Kane deeply felt that the strength of pirates on the Grand Line truly could not be compared to the small fry muddling about in the Four Seas.
When pirates from the Four Seas saw him use the Six Powers, most of them were stunned, even falling into panic.
But when Grand Line pirates saw him use the Six Powers, they would excitedly shout that there was only one opponent before charging at him with wild howls.
They did not care whether their opponent was a Marine. They merely followed the simple yet cruel law of survival in battle—either you died or they did—and rushed forward with weapons raised.
And with the appearance of the first pirate ship, pirate ships coming to rescue the nonexistent Rosinante began appearing one after another.
Kane felt as though he had returned to the days when pirates constantly harassed him. Only, the ferocity and madness of Grand Line pirates made them far more troublesome to deal with.
Several days later, after Kane killed a pirate with a bounty as high as three hundred million, Cuckoo teased him.
"Little Kane, can you adapt to this kind of fighting?"
"It's all right."
Faced with Cuckoo's teasing, Kane shrugged indifferently. He did not really care who his enemies were.
He only wanted to send those unfit to live into hell.
And give those who wanted to go to heaven a wonderful taste of paradise.
"We'll reach Red Port tomorrow."
Cuckoo suddenly said, her voice carrying a trace of melancholy.
Kane knew that once they reached Impel Down, the mission would be considered a complete success, and that would be where the two of them parted ways.
That was precisely why Cuckoo seized every opportunity she could, clinging to him with near-crazed obsession.
Kane rested his arms behind his head and watched Cuckoo's beautiful back as he spoke slowly.
"Yeah. I've never ridden a Bubble Cable Car before. Have you?"
"I have. They're boring."
"Really?"
"Yeah. The people up there are boring."
Kane understood. He reached out, held Cuckoo by the waist, and turned her toward him.
Kane spun her with enough force that Cuckoo nearly lost her balance, and his scorching palm made her feel as though a fire were burning inside her body.
"If you don't like riding cable cars, how about I fly you up there?"
"You can fly? I thought you only knew how to make me fly."
Kane laughed at that, his tone provocative.
"Do you dare?"
"Why wouldn't I? I'm your instructor!"
"An instructor who's never won."
"Nonsense! Watch me beat you with my new move!"
When Kane returned to Hina's warship, Robin, disguised as Carina, was unusually standing on deck. She blankly leaned close to his ear and said.
"Little Deafie sent a message. He says everything is safe, but someone wants to talk to you. They'll call again in ten minutes."
"Mm."
Kane nodded, then used needing rest as an excuse to bring Robin back to the cabin.
Once inside, Kane spread his Observation Haki to its fullest extent, enveloping the entire warship. Only after confirming that the area around the cabin was absolutely safe did he give Robin a signal.
Robin understood immediately. She quickly opened the suitcase, took an Anti-Eavesdropping Den Den Mushi from a hidden compartment, and handed it to Kane.
The two waited quietly. Ten minutes passed in the blink of an eye, and the Anti-Eavesdropping Den Den Mushi rang right on time.
Kane immediately answered, but did not speak.
"Hello, I'm Little... Little Deafie."
Rosinante's voice came from the other end, though he was clearly somewhat unwilling to face reality as he said his codename.
Kane's lips curled upward as he spoke into the Den Den Mushi.
"Hello, Little Deafie. I'm your grandpa."
"Did you really have to pick a codename like that just to take advantage of me?!"
Rosinante on the other end was clearly furious, but Kane did not care.
"You agreed to it back then."
"That's because you never gave me time to object!"
"Not objecting means agreeing. Anyway, did you call just to tell me that?"
"I... forget it."
Rosinante helplessly gave up on arguing and spoke seriously.
"I've already met the leader of the Revolutionary Army. I'm beside him now, and he says he wants to talk to you."
"Sure." Kane nodded. He was also curious what Dragon wanted to say to him.
A burst of static came from the Den Den Mushi. Rosinante had clearly handed the receiver to someone else, and then a deep male voice came through it.
"Hello, I'm Dragon."
"Hello, I'm Kane."
After introducing themselves, the two fell silent for a moment before continuing their conversation.
"Thank you for introducing Rosinante and Law to us."
"Don't worry about it. It was nothing."
"No, they're important. The Revolutionary Army needs them, and we will remember this favor."
"Then consider yourselves owing me one. But what you wanted to say to me probably wasn't just thanks, was it?"
Dragon's tone became much more solemn. "That's right. I want you to help me find out someone's whereabouts."
"Find someone?"
Kane glanced at the glittering sea outside the window, then suddenly grinned.
"I'm drifting at sea right now. I'm afraid I can't look for anyone."
"Not now. When you cross the Red Line."
"Interesting. Who do you want me to find?"
Dragon suddenly fell silent for a moment before slowly saying a name.
"Jewelry Ginny."
Kane froze instantly, and even his pupils trembled unnaturally.
Dragon, on the other end of the Den Den Mushi, keenly noticed Kane's reaction and asked in surprise.
"You know her?"
Kane licked his lips. Seeing Robin blink her large eyes at him in confusion, he gently stroked her cheek.
"Jewelry Ginny, commander of the Revolutionary Army's East Army. She excels at eavesdropping, communications, and stealing intelligence, and she is greatly loved within the Revolutionary Army.
"And as far as I know, she has a very close relationship with one of your Revolutionary Army officers, close enough that they were even discussing marriage.
"Unfortunately, her unit was wiped out by the Celestial Dragons a year ago. She was also taken by the Celestial Dragons, and her whereabouts have remained unknown ever since."
Robin's eyes widened at once. She covered her mouth with both hands, barely suppressing the cry of shock in her throat.
Dragon had not expected Kane to know so much, and for a moment, he did not know what to say.
Seeing this, Kane took the initiative to ask, "So you think she might be in Mary Geoise now?"
"We can't be certain yet."
Dragon said in an unreadable tone, "But we must find a way to locate her. Kane, you should understand that she is an extremely important companion to us."
Kane took a deep breath. Rather than answer immediately, he looked at Robin.
"Tell me, should I agree to them?"
Robin had not expected Kane to place the decision in her hands, and her heartbeat involuntarily quickened.
She very much wanted Kane to agree, but she was also worried that he would be dragged into danger because of it. She was terribly conflicted.
Dragon waited silently on the other end and said nothing, but the breathing he unconsciously lowered still gave away his nervousness.
After a moment, Robin seemed to have finally made up her mind.
She raised her head to look at Kane, about to say something, but Kane understood her gaze before she could speak.
"All right, I agree. When I pass through Mary Geoise, I'll do my best to find information about Jewelry Ginny."
After saying that, he added to the Den Den Mushi.
"But to ensure the cooperation goes smoothly, I need you to send two assistants to help me. I'll choose them myself. Do you agree?"
Dragon immediately agreed. "No problem. Who do you need?"
Kane smiled mysteriously and softly spoke two names.
"Bartholomew Kuma, and...
"Emporio Ivankov."
