Zhou Yi was assigned as Freshman Class One’s homeroom teacher after reportedly being demoted from teaching third-years. Bei Bei states that repeated complaints followed her excessively harsh instruction, under which only one-tenth of her previous class advanced. 4

She began the freshman term by presenting herself as an intimidating elderly woman, though this appearance was a disguise intended to frighten students. Her opening declaration was that she would cultivate “monsters,” not “idiots.” 9

Her first assessment ordered every student who had not fought since registration to run one hundred laps around Shrek Square within a shichen, with expulsion for failure. She enforced the order through the pressure of her Soul Emperor cultivation and expelled Shangguan Chentian, Lin Zeyu, and Tai Long when they failed to finish. 10 11

Zhou Yi later imposed a second elimination exercise: students had to wear thirty-pound iron vests and run until dismissal, with the last-place student expelled. Huo Yuhao challenged her over the rule’s unfairness and fought her using Imprint and the combined aid of Class One. 13 14
