It was strange. The setting within the Light Screen was extremely similar to Blue Star.

But Blue Star had no Xia Dynasty after the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, much less martial arts.

Qiang Wei recalled that at the beginning of the Light Screen, the protagonist had been wearing modern clothes.

A transmigrator?

But Blue Star's history had not changed.

The more she thought about it, the more questions there were. The more she thought, the more complicated it became.

"I'm from Earth," Yun Ming replied after thinking for a moment.

"Earth?"

Qiang Wei furrowed her brow. "You're speaking so slowly. Are you thinking up a way to lie to me?"

"I was weighing whether I should say it."

Yun Ming did not argue. He walked off to the side. "I bear no ill will toward Blue Star, and I don't know how I got here either. So don't ask unnecessary questions. It's not that I don't want to answer; I can't."

As he spoke, he looked at Qiang Wei with utmost seriousness. "I'm a good person."

"You're a good person? You collapsed a building, killed fifteen ordinary people, then killed four medical workers." Qiang Wei snorted coldly and berated him without reservation. "You're just like that Dog Emperor in the Light Screen, treating human lives like grass! If the Dog Emperor is your ancestor, then you were born rotten!"

Yun Ming was more or less unable to hold it together.

"I showed you goodwill, yet you insult me like this. Do you think I have no temper?" Yun Ming's expression turned cold. "Let me tell you, accidental killing is still accidental killing. If I had intended it, far more than that would have died, and you wouldn't even have discovered me."

Qiang Wei stared coldly at Yun Ming. "You think I'll believe you? You think Blue Star will believe you?"

"Do I need you to believe me? Blue Star? You're an alien, and you think you're worthy of representing Blue Star?" Yun Ming mocked Qiang Wei just as mercilessly. "If you're not human, you're not human. Have you really started thinking of yourself as one of the Blue Star People?"

"You—"

Qiang Wei's expression changed dramatically as she shouted angrily, "I was born on Blue Star and grew up on Blue Star. How am I not one of the Blue Star People? For Blue Star's peace and my country's prosperity, I'm willing to climb mountains of blades and plunge into seas of fire, to give everything and sacrifice everything! And you killed nineteen people. What right do you have to talk about me?"

"So what?"

Yun Ming merely said flatly, "Enter Blue Star and you become one of the Blue Star People? What a fine case of a cuckoo occupying a magpie's nest! Do you think I don't know that your De Nuo Civilization controls Blue Star? Shall I expose your true identities and see whether Blue Star acknowledges you?"

"Utter nonsense!"

Qiang Wei's face turned green. She exploded on the spot, trembling with rage.

He was exactly like that Dog Emperor—skilled at sophistry, skilled at schemes and calculations.

Qiang Wei's face had turned livid with anger.

"You said I caused nineteen deaths." Yun Ming seemed lost in thought, or perhaps at a loss for words. After a long while, he finally spoke slowly, his voice low and distant. "That was my mistake. I failed to control the situation."

"Stop putting on an act here! They're already dead!" Qiang Wei immediately seized upon Yun Ming's weakness and demanded without mercy, "You must atone for this!"

"Atone? How am I supposed to atone? Do you expect me to sacrifice one life to repay all of theirs?" Yun Ming asked Qiang Wei in return.

"That's right!" Qiang Wei nodded without hesitation. "You broke the law, so you must accept legal punishment!"

Seeing how resolute Qiang Wei was, Yun Ming replied blandly, "Then you're thinking too simply. You aliens can control Blue Star, so why should I obey your laws?"

"You're twisting logic!" Qiang Wei was furious. He was clearly trying to muddy the waters on purpose.

"Things have already reached this point. I say sorry, and that's the end of it. What else do you want?" Yun Ming said coldly. "There are plenty of pitiful people in this world. I don't see you doing much to uphold your so-called justice for them."

Since the other side refused to give him a way out, they could only confront each other.

Qiang Wei trembled all over in fury. This was simply inhuman! What did he mean, an apology and that was it? What else did she want from him?

"What do you take those nineteen lives for? Ants you can casually crush by the roadside?" Qiang Wei roared at Yun Ming in uncontrollable rage. "It is precisely because there are so many injustices in this world that we must step forward and uphold justice! You say you've never seen me uphold justice? I'm upholding justice right now!"

With that, fire flashed in her eyes as she charged straight at Yun Ming.

Whoosh!

Yun Ming's figure flickered and shifted through the air, dodging with ghostlike speed.

He knew full well that he lacked the ability to kill Qiang Wei, and he could not bear the consequences of killing her either.

Therefore, he had no intention of continuing to fight Qiang Wei.

"People like you only know how to solve problems with violence. You don't care about other people's lives at all, yet you keep talking about upholding justice." Yun Ming deftly evaded the attack of two flying knives and pointed at the Dam Slope riddled with gullies. His tone was calm but firm. "If we keep fighting, this dam will probably be destroyed. When that happens, the floods will spread, and who knows how many people will die because of it."

Qiang Wei, who had been about to attack, could not help stopping and turning her gaze toward the dam.

The dam wall was covered in pits, its dense cracks spreading like a spiderweb, a horrifying sight.

Her furious expression froze instantly, and her fair cheeks turned ashen.

"Are you threatening me?" Qiang Wei looked at Yun Ming coldly, her voice carrying a trace of chill.

"I don't want to hurt anyone." Yun Ming gazed at Qiang Wei calmly and said lightly, "But if it truly comes to that, having people buried with me might not be such a bad release."

Qiang Wei snapped, "You're absolutely despicable!"

She had never expected Yun Ming to threaten her this way. It was utterly shameless.

"I have the right to emergency refuge," Yun Ming said blandly.

Qiang Wei stared at him in shock, unable to believe her ears. Pointing at Yun Ming, she said furiously, "You... how can you say something like that?!"

Even she was left utterly dumbfounded by Yun Ming's words.

After a moment, she laughed in extreme anger. "You think this will leave me helpless?!"

Yun Ming's heart stirred. A meaningful smile appeared on his face as he frightened her with, "Have you never considered that if I dared do this, then I must have a backup plan?"

At his words, Qiang Wei's face shifted between green and white.

Clearly, Yun Ming's words had sparked her imagination. She began conjuring up all sorts of possible scenarios and consequences on her own, and a wave of fear and unease rose within her.

"What backup plan could you possibly have?" Though Qiang Wei refused to yield verbally, a trace of panic and unease had already crept into her voice.

"Heaven knows." Yun Ming deliberately put on an inscrutable air, tilting his head toward the sky with a long, wistful sigh.

Qiang Wei stared at him intently, trying to discern even the slightest clue from his face.

Yet Yun Ming merely made faces at her, the corner of his mouth curling into a teasing smile as he mocked her ignorance.
