Background / History
Yun Ming was originally a modern man who found himself occupying the body of a young man during the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period. Seeking survival and power, he joined the Qi Army, where he was bullied, beaten, and assigned degrading work. The humiliation hardened his resolve to grow stronger 2.
In an early simulation, he received the Nine Nether Profound Heaven Divine Art from Zombie Ancestor Jiang Chen. After mastering its basics, he rose through the Lu Wu Army, defected to the Jin Kingdom, and became Military Governor of Youzhou. His ascent came at immense human cost: his betrayal contributed to the Lu Wu Army’s defeat and the massacre of Youzhou 4.
Later simulations presented sharply different paths. In one, he became an emperor whose rule brought both prosperity and oppression, rewriting history to elevate literature and suppress martial arts while uniting with Mobei 18. In another, he deliberately pursued the ideal of a “Benevolent Ruler,” learning to govern from the common people’s perspective and receiving the evaluation “Benevolent Ruler and Holy Master” 195.
Yun Ming’s real-world life repeatedly became entangled with the Angels, the Super Soldier Company, Yuan Tiangang, and multiversal factions. His unknown origin and simulated counterpart made him a target of suspicion, surveillance, and attempts at containment 173 212 249.
Appearance
Yun Ming is a tall, straight-backed young man with a handsome face, clear and resolute eyes, and an outwardly warm, gentle bearing. Beneath that demeanor, others sense concealed and difficult-to-measure power 160.
- Often carries or fights with a longsword 162 181.
- Has worn white robes described as snow-white 160.
- Appeared in black clothing during an arena battle, accompanied by a blue-glowing runic sword 181.
- Later appeared in black robes with a sickly pallor and visibly manic eyes while acting as Aizeer’s controller 304.
Personality
Yun Ming is driven above all by a refusal to remain powerless. Early hardship gave him fierce ambition, resilience, and a willingness to endure humiliation temporarily if it creates an opening for future strength 2 156. He can be patient and calculating, notably maintaining a false image of a pleasure-seeking coward while cultivating in secret under Yuan Tiangang’s watch 156.
His methods are inconsistent across simulations and arcs. He has been ruthless, manipulative, and willing to sacrifice others for power, including ordering torture, exploiting allies, and treating people as tools 113 175. Yet he is also capable of empathy, remorse, mercy, and genuine concern for civilians. He was disturbed by civilians’ suffering, healed Qiang Wei after defeating her, and has repeatedly expressed a wish to protect the common people 73 214 179.
The Empress’s teachings become a major moral influence: Yun Ming accepts that power requires restraint and responsibility, though he continues to struggle with his belief that extreme means can serve Justice 165.
