After basking in the sun for half an hour, the cart delivering food finally arrived late, accompanied by a pretty boy in white robes riding a white horse.
Lu Shaolin blinked. Who the hell was this? What a show-off!
"Isn't that Young Master Ouyang Sheng?"
Feng Tie, the scarred man, said.
"Ouyang Sheng? Who's that?"
Lu Shaolin asked.
"Hall Master Ouyang Zheng's son."
Feng Tie replied quietly.
As they spoke, the cart arrived before Lu Shaolin.
Ouyang Sheng, seated on the white horse, stared wide-eyed at Lu Shaolin lounging brazenly in his reclining chair.
"Where did this man who ignores gang rules come from? How dare you lie in a reclining chair while on guard duty!"
Ouyang Sheng shouted.
Lu Shaolin looked Ouyang Sheng over. He looked ordinary, not nearly as handsome as himself.
Seeing that Lu Shaolin did not answer and only stared at him, Ouyang Sheng flew into a rage. He drew the longsword at his waist and pointed it at Lu Shaolin. "I'm talking to you! Get up for this young master!"
Lu Shaolin chuckled and sprang to his feet. He was now at Perfected Muscle Tempering, while Hall Master Ouyang Zheng was also at Perfected Muscle Tempering and nearly fifty years old. He had nothing to fear.
"You must be Young Master Sheng. I was too tired from last night's watch, so I rested in the reclining chair for a while. But I wonder, what position does Young Master Sheng hold? Do you have the authority to supervise a leader like me?"
Lu Shaolin cupped his hands casually and spoke in a lazy tone.
"I..."
Ouyang Sheng's face flushed red from Lu Shaolin's retort. His strength was lacking, and he had only reached Skin Refinement Mid-Stage. Even his position as a leader had been obtained through his father's influence.
But given his status, who would dare treat him as an ordinary leader? People usually gave him plenty of respect.
Yet today, he had run into a fool who did not know better!
"Fine! Fine! Fine!"
Ouyang Sheng laughed in fury, then turned his horse and rode away.
"Boss, offending Ouyang Sheng like this will bring trouble."
Feng Tie was stunned by Lu Shaolin's actions and quietly warned him.
"It's nothing!"
Lu Shaolin replied with a smile. Before, when he had no strength, he endured what he had to. Now, he could at least be considered an expert. At worst, they could fight.
Lunch was noodles, and Lu Shaolin ate three large bowls.
The cook who had delivered the food did not dare leave immediately, afraid that this fierce man who even dared talk back to the hall master's son would beat him up.
After lunch, Lu Shaolin moved the reclining chair into the tent, used a sheepskin as a blanket, and began snoring away.
He slept for two hours before getting up.
He grabbed an apple from the table and started eating it as he walked out of the tent.
Outside, Ma San, Feng Tie, and the others were sitting in chairs and chatting.
When they saw Lu Shaolin emerge, they all stood and greeted him.
Lu Shaolin nodded in acknowledgment.
Just as he was about to speak, hoofbeats sounded. Three men rode up to the tent, and Ouyang Sheng was among them.
"Who is the leader here?" asked the middle-aged man with a hooked nose at the front.
"I am. Who are you?"
Lu Shaolin frowned.
"You don't even know me?"
The hooked-nosed man looked surprised.
"Boss, this is Deputy Hall Master Chen Ying!"
Feng Tie hurried over to remind him.
"So it's Deputy Hall Master Chen. This subordinate is Lu Shaolin."
Lu Shaolin cupped his hands, neither servile nor overbearing.
"You don't even recognize me. Did you just arrive at the External Affairs Hall?"
Chen Ying asked.
"I've only been here a few days."
Lu Shaolin replied.
Chen Ying frowned, turned around, and whispered to Ouyang Sheng.
Ouyang Sheng looked displeased.
Ignoring his expression, Chen Ying looked at Lu Shaolin. "Since you've only just arrived, you will not be punished for violating gang rules at noon. Be sure to take note in the future!"
"Understood."
Lu Shaolin nodded. Chen Ying was fairly impartial and had not sided with Ouyang Sheng.
"Let's go!"
Chen Ying barked, turned his horse around, and headed back the way he came.
Ouyang Sheng glared fiercely at Lu Shaolin before following behind.
Lu Shaolin gave a cold smile. Sooner or later, I'll crush you, you show-off.
"Boss, see? I told you Ouyang Sheng can't be provoked. You're just inviting trouble."
"This time, Deputy Hall Master Chen came. If it had been the hall master, you might have been punished."
Feng Tie moved closer and said.
"The hall master protects his son that much?"
Lu Shaolin asked.
"The hall master only has this one son!"
Feng Tie replied.
"Mm, I know what I'm doing. Don't worry."
Lu Shaolin nodded and bit into the apple with a crunch.
At dusk, after dinner, everyone lit the bonfires again.
Lu Shaolin held his spear and waited once more for Source Points to come knocking.
After waiting for a long time, not a single Walking Corpse came to their side.
Fighting sounds came from elsewhere instead.
"Ma San, push the cart around and make a circuit."
Lu Shaolin said to Ma San.
"Yes!"
Ma San nodded and left, pushing the cart.
After making a round, Ma San brought back three corpses, and Lu Shaolin touched them one by one.
An entire night passed, yet not a single Walking Corpse came to Lu Shaolin's side.
However, they brought back six corpses and collected six Source Points.
Together with last night's gains, the system panel had increased by a total of eighteen Source Points!
After breakfast, Lu Shaolin had planned to return to the county town to upgrade and allocate points. Unexpectedly, an order suddenly arrived: all gang members were to assemble and accompany the Demon Suppression Bureau in clearing the village.
Lu Shaolin led his five men to the village entrance.
A large number of gang members had gathered there. A rough count put them at around eighty.
At the front of the crowd stood a man in white around fifty years old, with a sallow complexion and narrow eyes.
Lu Shaolin guessed that he was Ouyang Sheng's father, Ouyang Zheng.
Chen Ying stood behind him.
"Brothers, Lord Wang Zhenghong of the Demon Suppression Bureau will arrive shortly. He will deal with the Zombies, while we will mainly kill the Walking Corpses. You must all fight bravely and not tarnish the name of our Blackwater Gang!"
Ouyang Zheng shouted loudly.
"Yes!"
The gang members answered in unison.
Lu Shaolin did not make a sound. He was thinking about something.
Wasn't Ping County's Demon Suppression Bureau headed by Lord Zhou Yong? Why had it become Lord Wang instead?
He still owed Zhou Yong his life!
Lu Shaolin did not know the situation within the Demon Suppression Bureau, so he could only investigate it slowly in the future.
After waiting for about half an hour, a burst of urgent hoofbeats rang out. Three people in dark official uniforms rode over.
They were members of the Demon Suppression Bureau.
The leader was a slightly plump, fair-faced man.
Ouyang Zheng and Chen Ying hurried forward to greet them.
The two sides exchanged pleasantries.
Then the Demon Suppression Bureau members charged into the village first.
At Ouyang Zheng's command, the gang members rushed in after them.
Lu Shaolin carried his black iron spear over his shoulder and followed behind the crowd without the slightest concern.
He had no intention of putting in any effort. In the end, all he needed to do was touch the corpses.
He was planning to coast through today!
As the crowd poured in, the doors of the village homes were kicked open, and Walking Corpses were slain one after another through the gang members' cooperation.
Lu Shaolin led his five men over to a house. He extended his leg and kicked the door open with a bang, then entered the main hall.
He swept his gaze around. There were no Walking Corpses.
He then walked to the bedroom and kicked its door open.
The instant the door opened, a blue-black figure pounced at Lu Shaolin, its exposed fangs still stained with dried blood.
"Boss, be careful!"
"It's a Zombie!"
Ma San and Feng Tie shouted behind him.
