Tomorrow was the day of the duel, so Lu Shaolin rested at home today, planning to upgrade himself.
Today, Li Cai was accompanying Lu Shaolin.
At lunchtime, Lu Shaolin specifically had Dong Jia prepare a great deal more food.
After eating until his belly was round, he began upgrading. Once it was done, he ate another huge meal.
After his body returned to normal, he lay back in a reclining chair in the courtyard and summoned the system panel:
Name: Lu Shaolin Source Points: 1.8 Martial Arts Realm: Perfected Muscle Tempering Cultivation Methods: Yellow Rank, High Grade—Reckless Bull Force (Max Level), Golden Body Art (Max Level) Yellow Rank, Mid Grade—Savage Bear Skill (Max Level), Stonewall Art (Level Five) Martial Skills: Yellow Rank, Mid Grade—Mad Demon Staff Technique (Mastery), Fire Venom Palm (Mastery) Unranked—Three Absolutes Spear (Mastery), Eight Extremes Fist (Minor Mastery).
At this point, Lu Shaolin's strength had increased by another four hundred and fifty pounds. The skin membrane covering his body had also reached the fourth layer. The four layers clung tightly together, like especially thick leather armor.
His weight increased again, his muscle density grew even greater, and his height reached one meter ninety-five. His speed had not improved much, increasing by only twenty percent.
That meant his strength was close to two thousand pounds, while his speed was 1.7 times that of an ordinary Tendon Tempering martial artist. He could absolutely crush anyone in the same realm.
But Lu Shaolin did not think much of it. The most dangerous things in this world were not martial artists, but those demons, monsters, and strange entities. He needed to become stronger!
"Boss, your tea."
Li Cai brought over a cup of hot tea.
"Oh, thanks!"
Lu Shaolin reached out and took it.
The day quickly passed.
Early the next morning, after Lu Shaolin finished breakfast, he was about to leave when Dong Jia looked at him worriedly. "Young master, be careful. If you can't win, surrender as soon as possible!"
Having heard Lu Shaolin and the others discussing it these past few days, Dong Jia naturally knew about the duel.
"Don't worry! That so-called Gate-Breaking Saber Wang Xiaofeng is nothing more than a head waiting to be claimed in my eyes."
Lu Shaolin replied with a smile.
After saying that, he pulled open the courtyard gate and walked out.
Beneath the large tree outside the courtyard, Feng Tie, Ma San, and four others stood in a row, waiting for him respectfully.
"May the boss win at the first stroke!"
The six men suddenly cupped their fists and shouted.
"Uh... you guys really know how to put on a show."
The six men startled Lu Shaolin. He smiled, swung onto his horse, and headed straight for the Water Fortress.
The six men spurred their horses and followed closely behind, hoofbeats rumbling like thunder.
Half an hour later, the seven arrived at the Water Fortress.
Gang Leader He Zhonglang, Discipline Hall Master Ye Baiquan, Internal Affairs Hall Master Wan Tong, External Affairs Hall Deputy Master Chen Ying, along with the stewards from every hall, had already gathered at the entrance to the Water Fortress.
Lu Shaolin cupped his fists toward everyone, then rode over to Chen Ying's side.
"Since everyone is here, let's set off!"
He Zhonglang nodded at Lu Shaolin and shouted.
With a flick of his reins, he charged toward the Little Knife Society's newly constructed North City Wharf.
Everyone else spurred their horses and followed.
They resembled a long black dragon!
Half an hour later, the group arrived at North City Wharf.
This place had been chosen because it had not yet opened, so it would not disturb the city's residents.
It was also the county magistrate's requirement.
At North City Wharf, the two sides stood clearly divided on either side of the arena built from blue bricks.
The Blackwater Gang all wore black martial attire.
The Little Knife Society all wore gray martial attire.
"President Cui!"
He Zhonglang cupped his fists toward the pale, beardless middle-aged man leading the Little Knife Society.
"Cui Guanqing, president of the Little Knife Society. Early Organ Tempering, not yet fifty years old. His signature art is the Yinfeng Saber Technique."
Chen Ying quietly explained to Lu Shaolin.
"Gang Leader He!"
Cui Guanqing also cupped his fists, his expression gloomy.
"Time is of the essence. Let's begin now!"
He Zhonglang called out loudly.
"Since your Blackwater Gang is so eager to die, the Little Knife Society will naturally be happy to help."
Cui Guanqing said with a sinister smile.
As soon as he finished speaking, the Little Knife Society members burst into loud laughter.
"Victory and defeat are decided by strength, not by your mouths!"
He Zhonglang sneered.
"Then let's see how much real skill your Blackwater Gang has! Xiaofeng!"
Cui Guanqing shouted.
"Here!"
Wang Xiaofeng swung down from his horse.
"Show the Blackwater Gang what it means to be unbeatable below Organ Tempering in Ping County!"
"Yes!"
Wang Xiaofeng roared, tapping his feet rapidly as he leaped onto the arena in just a few steps. He drew his golden saber and glared at the Blackwater Gang, looking ready to fight to the death!
This was actually pretty damn exciting! Lu Shaolin rubbed his nose.
Before his own gang leader could call for him, Lu Shaolin jumped off his Black-Mane Horse and swaggered up onto the arena.
He Zhonglang had already drawn a deep breath and was about to shout, but when he saw Lu Shaolin already heading for the arena, he nearly choked to death!
This kid really didn't follow the script!
Lu Shaolin looked at Wang Xiaofeng before him. He was over one meter eighty, with handsome features and a strong build.
His appearance suited his name well enough.
Still, he was not as good-looking as Lu Shaolin.
"So you're Lu Shaolin, the one who smashed Ouyang Zheng to death with a single spear strike?"
Wang Xiaofeng asked in a deep voice.
"Mm, that's me."
Lu Shaolin nodded.
"I'm not that old bastard Ouyang Zheng. I won't underestimate anyone!"
Wang Xiaofeng said, narrowing his eyes.
"Uh, suit yourself. You're dead either way."
Lu Shaolin said indifferently.
"Arrogant fool!"
Wang Xiaofeng roared and pushed off the ground, raising his saber as he hacked wildly at Lu Shaolin's head.
Lu Shaolin flicked his wrist and swept the Black Iron Spear over his head. With a clang, he knocked the golden saber aside.
Wang Xiaofeng's expression changed. What tremendous strength!
He withdrew his saber and retreated, then exerted force through his feet and began circling Lu Shaolin.
Lu Shaolin turned along with him for several rounds, his expression gradually growing impatient. He suddenly stomped down with force. With a crack, the blue brick beneath his foot shattered!
Once he entered striking range, Lu Shaolin swept his spear horizontally. It let out a whoosh as it tore through the air toward Wang Xiaofeng's waist.
Wang Xiaofeng rapidly tapped his feet and hurriedly retreated beyond the reach of the sweeping spear.
Lu Shaolin charged forward again. The spear flashed and was suddenly above Wang Xiaofeng's head.
Wang Xiaofeng's expression changed drastically. He raised the golden saber with both hands, angling it upward to block, intending to use the blade to deflect the force and evade.
A tremendous clang rang out across the entire wharf.
Following that crash came the snap of a breaking blade.
Wang Xiaofeng stared at the spear tip before his eyes, terror filling them.
My life is over!
With a splat, the spear shattered Wang Xiaofeng's head and continued downward, embedding itself directly beneath his chest!
Fragments of bone and brain matter sprayed everywhere, while blood instantly dyed the entire arena red!
With a bang, Lu Shaolin pulled out the spear, and Wang Xiaofeng's headless corpse collapsed into a pool of blood.
The entire wharf was silent enough to hear a pin drop. Not only were the Little Knife Society members stunned, even the Blackwater Gang higher-ups who had watched Lu Shaolin kill Ouyang Zheng were shocked speechless once more.
Lu Shaolin shook the spear, looked at the Little Knife Society members, and grinned, revealing his stark white teeth.
Then, under the gaze of everyone from both gangs, he openly began searching the corpse.
He had not forgotten the benefits from last time. He absolutely could not pass up looting the corpse, and besides, these were spoils of war he deserved.
After finishing, Lu Shaolin looked at the five bloodstained banknotes in his hand and frowned.
Would the bank recognize these?
