Background

Tang San grew up in Holy Soul Village under the care of his alcoholic father, Tang Hao. At six, he awakened Blue Silver Grass with Innate Full Soul Power and briefly sensed the Clear Sky Hammer as a second Martial Soul. Qin Qi secretly stole the hammer immediately afterward, leaving Tang San unable to summon or prove its existence. Tang Hao interpreted this as a lie, beat Tang San, and forbade him from attending school; Tang San outwardly submitted while privately vowing to repay the humiliation once he became strong. 1 2

Qin Qi persuaded Tang San to disregard Tang Hao’s order and leave for Notting Academy. There, Yu Xiaogang took a special interest in Tang San and accepted him as a disciple. Tang San initially defended Yu Xiaogang against criticism, but their relationship deteriorated when Yu Xiaogang reacted with contempt after Tang San could not manifest a second Martial Soul. During the Soul Hunting Forest incident, Tang San fled when a Datura Snake attacked Yu Xiaogang. He later claimed to have killed the snake with thrown rocks and absorbed its Hundred-Year Soul Ring. Yu Xiaogang’s loss of Luo Sanpao and his Soul Rings led him to suspect Tang San of possessing an evil theft technique, while Tang San became increasingly wary that Yu Xiaogang wanted his Tang Sect secrets. 11 16

After Yu Xiaogang was expelled from Notting Academy, Tang San publicly challenged Qin Qi to defend his teacher’s honor and reclaim status among the students. Qin Qi defeated him through blinding ash, evasive movement, and repeated staff strikes; Tang San’s attempt to use a Sleeve Arrow was stopped before it could fire. While recovering in the infirmary, Tang San began planning to secretly poison and cripple Qin Qi. 24 27

Personality

Tang San is intensely ambitious and treats strength as the means to escape humiliation and secure recognition. He is outwardly restrained around stronger figures, including Tang Hao and Yu Xiaogang, but privately records insults and imagines future revenge. 2 8 16
