Looking at the card that had automatically fused in the inventory, Qifeng temporarily set his heavy heart at ease.
He took out the card etched with a crimson eye. A black tomoe glimmered with an eerie light within it, as if the eye could fly out of the card at any moment.
"Won't this be like the Shikotsumyaku?"
Rather than using it immediately, he recalled the bone-piercing pain from using the Shikotsumyaku Kekkei Genkai.
He shuddered instinctively.
That traumatic experience would probably haunt him for a long time.
He took a deep breath.
Suppressing his unease, he gritted his teeth and slapped the card onto himself.
Though he was afraid, he still had to use it.
As the card touched his body, it transformed into a streak of light and shot into him. Fine threads burrowed into his body and vanished.
Qifeng slowly narrowed his eyes and looked at his hands in surprise.
"That's it?"
Why was this so different from what he had imagined? The Shikotsumyaku had hurt so badly he nearly died, yet the Uchiha Clan bloodline had no reaction at all?
There was no boost to his attributes, nor were there any physical changes.
Just as he was about to open the panel to see whether the card had failed to activate, his temple suddenly throbbed.
"It's here."
Qifeng's expression stiffened. Before he could react, intense pain pierced his mind, as though dozens of hammers were striking it over and over. The pain was unbearable.
The Chakra in his body began flowing uncontrollably through his meridians, frantically gathering toward his eyes.
His widened eyes gradually changed. Crimson blood vessels spread through the veins in his eyes toward his pupils. His black pupils shrank and condensed, eventually becoming tiny black tomoe.
At the same time, his eyeballs were completely flooded with red.
Single Tomoe, Sharingan!
The pain came quickly and left just as quickly.
"Phew—phew—it even knows how to launch a sneak attack now."
Qifeng wiped his forehead with lingering fear.
Thankfully, while it had still hurt badly, it was far less painful than the Shikotsumyaku Kekkei Genkai.
Besides, he had been prepared.
He touched his eyes.
He could clearly sense the changes in them, most noticeably in his vision.
A tiny black insect crawled slowly across the window. In a corner, a speck of dust lay quietly.
"Might Guy didn't clean properly."
Qifeng rubbed his eyes, stopped circulating and feeding Chakra into them, and his vision returned to normal.
The Single Tomoe Sharingan's primary abilities were observation and dynamic vision.
Copying ninjutsu and strengthening genjutsu were not abilities possessed by the Single Tomoe Sharingan. Those required the Double Tomoe or even the Three Tomoe.
Still, it was enough.
After all, for Qifeng, its greatest use
was ensuring the Morgue remained absolutely clean and tidy.
"This damn cleanliness obsession."
The system notification that had arrived slightly late appeared.

Shaking his head, he took out the Attribute Boost Card from earlier and used it on himself.

He brought up the attribute panel.

Looking at his current attributes, he felt completely at ease.
He walked out of the Morgue, pulled out a cigarette, and lit it with a snap of his fingers. A wisp of white smoke drifted upward, while a flickering red glow rose and fell with his breathing.
He exhaled a smoke ring.
That felt good.
He silently finished the cigarette and ground out the butt.
"Tomorrow, I have to make Might Guy clean even more thoroughly."
"Might Guy, you need to be more careful. Yesterday, I found bits of debris you missed."
"Yes! Senior Qifeng, I'll be more attentive and more thorough!"
Qifeng waved his hand and headed toward the center of the village.
Meticulous Might Guy was trustworthy.
Though war had not yet broken out, the Shinobi World was like a volcano that could erupt at any moment. Oppressive, stifling gloom shrouded the entire world.
Even Konoha had been greatly affected.
There were fewer smiles on the streets, and laughter had disappeared.
Ordinary people might not know what was happening, but traveling merchants and wandering ronin would still bring back troubling news from time to time.
Qifeng wandered into Konoha's central district.
It was an area surrounded by towering walls.
The torii gate at its center bore the words "Uchiha," flanked by Flame Fan emblems.
This was the Uchiha Clan Grounds in Konoha.
As Konoha's foremost prestigious clan, and one of the strongest ninja clans in the Shinobi World, the Uchiha Clan's status was beyond question.
Though the current Uchiha were disliked and excluded by the Konoha higher-ups, ordinary people knew nothing of it. The clan occupied Konoha's most central and prosperous district.
Others only knew that Uchiha meant the Konoha Military Police Force, that they wielded great authority, and that they were one of Konoha's great clans.
Even most members of the Uchiha Clan did not know about the Uchiha's awkward position within Konoha.
They merely maintained, upheld, and carried on the Uchiha pride.
When he arrived at the entrance to the Uchiha Clan Grounds, the guards asked him a few simple questions before letting him into the Uchiha Clan Grounds without issue.
Once inside,
he found an entirely different scene.
Classical architecture, Flame Fan emblems everywhere, and a small internal shopping street that was no less bustling than the one outside.
In Qifeng's eyes, the Uchiha Clan Grounds were practically a village within a village, a country within a country!
The Uchiha truly had the right to be proud.
But unfortunately, even such a powerful Uchiha Clan would one day be destroyed, and the culprits behind their destruction, whether in the shadows or out in the open, would all be their own people.
Still, none of that had anything to do with Qifeng.
As he walked through the streets of the Uchiha Clan Grounds, he attracted quite a bit of attention.
After all, outsiders rarely came in.
"Senior Qifeng!!"
A figure ran over from behind at high speed. He was running so fast that he stumbled a few times and nearly fell.
With such reckless behavior, it could only be Uchiha Obito.
"It really is you! Senior Qifeng, I thought I was seeing things." Obito looked excited.
"You're out of school so early?" Qifeng asked in surprise.
"Hehe." Obito rubbed his nose. "Today was the final exam. Of course school ended after we finished."
Final exam. Qifeng nodded thoughtfully.
It seemed war really was not far away.
"What was the test?"
"The Clone Technique."
"How did you do?"
Obito's smile froze. He scratched the back of his head in distress, then gave a dry laugh. "Haha. Of course, of course I did well! I'm a genius of the Uchiha Clan. We Uchiha produce geniuses."
Qifeng did not know whether the Uchiha produced geniuses, but the current Obito had absolutely nothing to do with the word genius.
Qifeng figured even Might Guy could pin Obito to the ground and beat him senseless.
Ignoring Qifeng's teasing gaze, Obito turned his head. "Senior Qifeng, why did you suddenly come here? Is there anything I can help with?"
"Oh, I'm looking for Uchiha Kagami's grandfather."
"Grandpa Tobirama?"
"You know him?"
"He lives right next door to my house."
