The Great Soul Arena of Suotuo City, back lounge.
Dai Mubai was shirtless, sweat sliding down his sharply chiseled muscle lines. He had just finished a set of warm-ups, and amid the whistling sound of his fist strikes, the air itself hummed with shockwaves.
Under the state of White Tiger Wuhun attachment, his pupils flickered with a faint, demonic golden light, and his entire person was like a crouching tiger ready to pounce.
A staff member knocked and entered, handing over a match update sheet. "Young Master Dai, your opponent has been confirmed. Code name: The Flash, peak level-thirty-nine Soul Elder, agility attack system, newcomer's debut fight."
Dai Mubai took the sheet and glanced at it, the corners of his mouth curving into a look of disdain.
Peak level thirty-nine?
And still a newcomer?
Interesting.
Although he was only level thirty-seven, he was a monster.
A gap of more than two levels was nothing.
Challenging higher levels was a monster's basic operation.
"Understood."
Dai Mubai casually tossed the table onto the desk, rolling his neck as his joint bones gave off crisp, cracking sounds.
The staff member reminded him, "Young Master Dai, this newcomer is still a peak level-thirty-nine Soul Elder after all. He should still have some strength, and this humble younger brother thinks it's better not to look down on him."
Dai Mubai sneered, speaking leisurely. "What of level thirty-nine? Rank isn't everything. My Evil-Eyed White Tiger is a royal family inherited Martial Soul, fierce and matchless, naturally countering all agile-attack frailies. Fast? The arena is only this big, where can he run off to? With a single punch of mine, he'll be maimed if not dead."
He clenched his fists, white light flowing between his fingers, and his confidence oozed from every pore.
"A newcomer who hasn't even heard of my moniker is probably some genius from a small place who hasn't seen the world and ran to Suotuo City looking to make a name for himself."
"Three minutes to resolve the battle. Whoever bets on me to win, go ahead and bet. It's a guaranteed profit."
Dai Mubai put on his jacket and strode toward the tunnel.
At the end of the tunnel, the shouts of the spectator stands surged like a tide. The moment Dai Mubai stepped out of the tunnel, a white tiger phantom condensed behind him, roaring up at the sky and prompting thunderous cheers from the entire venue.
On the betting board, his odds had already dropped to one point one to one, practically amounting to a free giveaway.
In the opposite tunnel, Huang Yun walked out leisurely.
A black half-mask covered most of his face, revealing only a pair of calm, rippling eyes.
Set against the massive arena, his figure appeared somewhat slender. With his hands in his pockets and a casual gait, he looked like he was out for a stroll rather than participating in a life-or-death battle.
Discussions arose in the spectator stands.
"Is this that Flash? He looks completely ordinary."
"The Evil-Eyed White Tiger is going to bully some newbies again this time. I'm afraid this newcomer won't even last three minutes."
"What of the agility attack system? This venue is just that small, restricting movement completely."
Turning a deaf ear, Huang Yun walked to the center of the arena and stood still, his gaze falling on Dai Mubai from behind the mask.
The Evil-Eyed White Tiger, truly just as described in the original work, possessed a sturdy build and a fierce aura. That pair of odd-colored pupils indeed carried a bit of oppressive presence.
What a pity.
No matter how fierce a tiger was, if it couldn't catch its prey, it was nothing more than decoration.
The referee stood at the edge of the arena, arm raised high, and under the propulsion of soul power, his voice resounded through the entire venue. "Single match, the Evil-Eyed White Tiger versus The Flash. Both sides prepare."
Dai Mubai clenched his fists tightly, his white tiger defensive soul power erupting fully as white light enveloped his entire body.
"Match start!"
Before the words had even faded, Dai Mubai moved.
He violently stomped his foot, shattering the stone surface of the arena into spiderweb-like cracks, and his entire body shot straight toward Huang Yun's face like a white cannonball. His right claw, carrying a screech that tore through the air, slapped down overhead.
This claw was fast, accurate, and ruthless. Had it been an ordinary Soul Elder, that aura alone would have been enough to freeze them in place, unable to move.
Yet Huang Yun merely tilted his head slightly.
The claw brushed past the side of his ear, cutting through empty air without even touching the corner of his clothes.
Dai Mubai's pupils constricted. Forcibly twisting his body, he swept his right claw horizontally, the white light carving out an arc to slash at Huang Yun's waist and abdomen.
Huang Yun leaned back, his body nearly parallel to the ground as the arc of light swept past overhead and missed again.
Having missed two consecutive strikes, Dai Mubai let out a furious roar, his claws alternating in rapid succession. Each claw was faster than the last, the white light cutting back and forth across the arena, dense as a predatory web.
Huang Yun wove through the web, dodging left and right. His pace seemed casual, yet every single step precisely landed in the gaps of the white light.
He did not use teleportation, nor did he use lightning to accelerate. Relying solely on his basic physical speed, he moved with ease and even had time to raise a hand and adjust his mask.
"Hey, Evil-Eyed White Tiger?" He tilted his head and spoke. "Is there something wrong with your eyes? I'm right here, little white tiger."
"Courting death!"
Dai Mubai's expression darkened, his offensive turning even more ferocious.
Huang Yun continued to taunt him. "You're waving those claws of yours real hard, but it's just like trying to scoop fish—you can't catch a thing."
"Shut up!"
Second Soul Skill: White Tiger Radiant Wave!
Dai Mubai roared angrily, and a yellow spirit ring lit up under his feet.
He clapped his palms together, and white light condensed into a milky-white light wave that shot out!
After the light wave shot out, he directly detonated it.
Boom!
The power covered half of the arena, and the blinding white light swallowed everything, even lifting a layer of stone slabs from the ground.
The aftermath impacted the protective barrier at the edge of the arena, making it hum and buzz.
The light dissipated, and gunpowder smoke filled the air.
The arena was completely empty.
Dai Mubai panted heavily, his gaze quickly scanning the surroundings.
Huang Yun's figure had disappeared.
Dai Mubai frowned. "Where is he? There shouldn't even be a corpse left, right?"
"Up here."
The voice came from overhead, with a tone as leisurely as lying on a cloud sunbathing.
Dai Mubai was stunned and abruptly raised his head.
"Your attack is so slow, I almost fell asleep."
"Little kitty~"
Huang Yun hovered midair, blue lightning vaguely flickering behind his back, arms crossed, looking down at him. His posture was so cozy it didn't look like a fight, more like he was watching a cat scrambling on the ground.
Damn thing!
Dai Mubai gritted his teeth. This guy was completely fine!
He couldn't accept it!
The next second, the Soul Power of the White Tiger Wuhun churned and boiled within his body. Refusing to believe it, his legs suddenly exerted force, and his entire person soared into the sky, double claws tearing through the firmament to pounce directly at Huang Yun.
Huang Yun's figure flickered, leaving an afterimage in the air while his real body had already landed on the other side of the arena.
Dai Mubai pounced on empty air, staggering a step upon landing and bending his knees slightly to steady his stance.
His breathing had already begun to grow hurried. Continuous high-intensity explosive attacks consumed a large amount of his Soul Power, while the opponent hadn't even broken a sweat.
He turned his head and stared fixedly at that leisurely, infuriating figure.
Impossible.
His Evil-Eyed White Tiger's burst speed was among the top tier among Soul Elders. How could he fail to even catch up to an agility-attack type?
What on earth was his background?
This simply wasn't ordinary agility-attack speed; it was simply...
A word surfaced in his mind, which he desperately suppressed and refused to admit, yet that word stuck in his brain like a nail.
Absolute speed crushing!
Dai Mubai's confidence began to crack.
He had fought in the Soul Arena for so long, winning and losing.
Yet those losses were to head-on power-attack types or control-attack types. He had never encountered a situation like this.
He couldn't hit the opponent, not even once. All his attacks were like punching cotton, with strength nowhere to be exerted, feeling so aggrieved he wanted to vomit blood.
Huang Yun dropped back to the ground from the air, patted the non-existent dust on his hem, extended a single finger, and beckoned at Dai Mubai.
"Come on, I'll give you three more chances. If you hit me even once, I'll consider myself the loser."
