Parallel universes meant countless branching destinies. A tiny butterfly's wing could set off innumerable changes, even completely opposite ones.
These changes could manifest in personalities. A well-known example was the Justice League and the Crime Syndicate over at DC.
But more often, they manifested in gender. Doctor Octopus, who was currently working for Kingpin in this world, was the best example.
Incidentally, Doctor Octopus in one parallel universe was a hero who had joined the Avengers. In that universe, Spider-Woman was the main villain.
Such stark personality conflicts were like Kingpin himself: one became obsessed with loving his wife, while the other killed his wife to prove his path. Two opposite extremes. If these two Kingpins met, the other superheroes would basically have no role to play.
After dealing with Kingpin, Russell swept his gaze over the remaining villains and lackeys.

With the sound of shattering glass, Parker returned carrying Miles. The farewells were over, and the other Spider-Men had all returned to their own worlds.
