In the comics, Ronan played an important role in major cosmic events.

Early on, he had been a standard villain who once led an army to attack Earth. After his defeat, he was controlled by the Supreme Intelligence and fought the two Captain Marvels one after another. He lost time and again, yet never gave up.

Later, Ronan broke free of the Supreme Intelligence's control and became something of an antihero. He overthrew the Kree Empire's tyranny and became its ruler.

When interstellar war broke out, Ronan fought fiercely to protect his country. After the war, he cleaned up the mess and worked tirelessly for the Kree Empire's revival.

From the Kree Empire's perspective, he could be called a hero, but...
