The cat lay sprawled on a beach chair, sleeping soundly in a thoroughly indecent pose. It was boneless and soft, spread out like liquid.
Simply put, the cat was flat when it slept. Sometimes, it even flowed off the beach chair like water.
The reason for its exhaustion was that it was no good cat—fickle and insatiable. Even with Russell, a poop-scooper willing to throw money around and serve it delicious food and drink, it was still unsatisfied. Last night, it had spent the whole night fooling around at some wild woman's place, only staggering home at dawn with its tired body dragging behind it.
After learning that the cat possessed extraordinary abilities, Russell had specifically looked up relevant information and confirmed that it was a heartless Egyptian Cat.
Its entire body was gray, its fur marked with leopard-like patterns. Medium-sized, it belonged to the spotted tabby breed. Cats with naturally formed spotted markings were known as "miniature leopards."
Most amazingly, there was a scarab beetle-shaped pattern between its brows.
Russell did not know much about cats, and his standards were not high. As long as he could pet it, that was enough. Still, he had to admit that this Egyptian Cat had plenty of market appeal based on looks alone. With a wave of its paw, a whole crowd of poop-scoopers would come shamelessly groveling over.
The sun was blazing overhead. Russell wore a floral shirt on top and beach shorts below, sitting beneath a parasol and fanning himself.
There was no way he was fanning the Egyptian Cat. That fickle thing reeked of some wild woman. Russell decided to leave it out there for four or five hours and forgive it once his anger had subsided.
