And now, as Vera looked at the room before her, its layout truly suited her needs—
There was space to practice magic, padded mats for physical training, wide aisles that a wheelchair could easily pass through, bookshelves and training equipment suited to her height, and even the central mat had been set at an incline convenient for wheelchair movement.
But the problem was that it would be hard to find another student with a physical condition as unusual as hers in Hogwarts' entire history, wouldn't it?
Yet everything here bore traces of having been used before—meaning that before her, someone had made the same request, causing the Room of Requirement to create this room long ago.
Who else could have made the same request before her?
Vera wheeled herself to the center of the room, closed her eyes, and slowly set the Magic Circuit within her body into motion.
When she opened her eyes again, a faint golden glow flickered in her pupils.
Under Circuit Vision, the entire room took on a completely different appearance—the walls were covered in dense Ancient Magic patterns that flowed slowly like living things, forming a vast magical network.
Even more startlingly, some of those patterns clearly showed signs of having been damaged and then repaired.
Vera came back to herself and furrowed her brow uneasily.
The fact that someone could damage the Room of Requirement's Magic Circuit and then repair it meant that the senior who had once appeared in this room was likely also a Magic Circuit Awakening user, perhaps even someone who understood Ancient Magic.
But... a wheelchair and an awakened Magic Circuit—wasn't it too much of a coincidence for both requirements to appear together?
As though she had thought of something, she hurriedly wheeled herself closer to the wall. Her trembling fingers reached out and lightly touched the patterns.
In an instant, countless images flooded into her mind like a tidal wave—
A girl whose appearance could not be seen clearly cast spells in the middle of the room, while an even blurrier tall figure stood in the corner, silently watching the girl before her.
Soon after, the tall figure seemed to notice Vera's gaze and turned her head slightly, revealing a pair of red eyes like flowing blood.
The vision came to an abrupt halt. Vera jerked her hand back, and a thin layer of sweat had already formed on her forehead.
She panted as she steadied her heartbeat. The images had been far too blurry to make out clearly, but that feeling of meeting the other person's gaze had been too real, leaving lingering fear in her heart.
"Who... were those two?" Vera murmured, her fingers unconsciously tightening around the wheelchair's armrest.
Though she did not know who they were, one thing was certain: neither of them had been ordinary witches.
If so, she might as well use Mana Tracing to decipher the magic they had used. Maybe she could even pick up a trick or two.
Vera took a deep breath and pressed her hand against the wall again. Her Magic Circuit ran at full force as she attempted to extract more information from the lingering magical traces.
Golden patterns spread from her fingertips and resonated with the Ancient Magic patterns on the wall.
This time, she saw a clearer image—
The red-eyed woman took several steps toward the long-haired girl, waved her wand, and released a heart-chilling green light. "Avada Kedavra!"
The moment Vera saw the dazzling green light flare up, her pupils contracted slightly in alarm, and cold sweat drenched her back.
The Killing Curse!
That red-eyed woman had actually used an Unforgivable Curse inside the Room of Requirement!
Just as her heart nearly leaped from her chest, the girl in the vision lightly turned her wrist. Her wand traced a graceful arc through the air, and a somewhat familiar surge of magic burst from its tip in an instant.
In the blink of an eye, the green light that symbolized death began to spin and reform within her immense magic power. In the end, it became a faint green glow that landed on the wall, leaving a mark that only a Severing Charm could have caused.
For a moment, Vera could hardly believe what she had seen.
That person... had transformed a Killing Curse capable of directly harming the soul into an ordinary Severing Charm?
How was that possible?!
Vera abruptly pulled back her hand, her chest rising and falling a little too quickly.
How had the other person done it?
Could that... also have been Ancient Magic?
She tried hard to recall what she had seen during the trace just now, but a line of text appeared across her retina at that very moment:
[Current Magic Circuit Level: Control · Beginner Rank]
Chapter 50: Level Up
[Name: Vera Black] [Age: 11] [Attributes: Strength (3), Agility (1), Magic (4), Intelligence (7), Charisma (8), Luck (2)] [Physical Condition: Lower-body paralysis (repairable)] [Ancient Magic Learning Status: Multicast (Intermediate)] [Talents: Shadow Affinity (Black bloodline talent), Ancient Magic Affinity] [Magic Circuit Bonuses: Basic spell power +30%, mana recovery speed +40%, spell learning speed +60%] [Magic Circuit Skill 1: Circuit Vision] [Magic Circuit Skill 2: Basic Healing] [Magic Circuit Skill 3: Mana Tracing] [Current Magic Circuit Level: Control · Beginner Rank (0/150)] [Mana Reserves: 96/120] [Mana Recovery Speed: 26/hour]
Vera froze. She had not expected her Magic Circuit to break through its bottleneck at such a critical moment.
Could it have been because she had seen that scene just now?
She felt the mana surging through her body. It was indeed fuller and more controllable than before.
That made sense. After all, her mana limit had risen from 96 to 120.
She quietly sensed the changes within herself, trying to find more differences from before.
Aside from her basic mana, the greatest change was the Multicast she had learned before.
As her Magic Circuit leveled up, Multicast had also risen from Beginner to Intermediate, gaining an additional effect—
[Consume 5 mana to stack multiple effects within the same spell. Current stack limit: 3 layers] [Consume 5 mana to cast multiple spells simultaneously. Current spell limit: 2]
Clearly, as the ability leveled up, more magical effects could be unlocked.
Vera looked at the floating text on her retina, a measure of understanding dawning in her heart.
The newly unlocked effect clearly allowed her to multitask—for example, she could cast a Levitation Charm while layering a Severing Charm on top of it.
Although she could currently only use two spells at once, that number should increase as her Magic Circuit level rose.
Vera took a deep breath and softly recited the incantation for the Levitation Charm.
As mana flowed in, two different lights lit up at the tip of her wand. A training dummy in the corner of the room quickly floated into the air, only to be silently sliced in half at the same time.
Vera's eyes lit up. So that was how it worked!
She only needed to speak one of the incantations to release two different magical effects at once.
It was practically the perfect skill for catching people off guard!
After all, who would expect a frail, innocent-looking little girl in a wheelchair to appear to be casting a Levitation Charm at someone while silently launching a nasty curse at them as well?
Going a step further, this kind of multitasking would also benefit her mental training. If she learned Occlumency later, perhaps she could try similar techniques?
For example, while someone tried to pry into her mind, she could conceal her real thoughts while weaving useless information—or even lies meant to mislead them...
Excited, she tried several more times before stopping to rest when more than half her mana had been consumed.
"I still need a lot more practice before I can master it..." Vera murmured as she wheeled herself to the padded mat in the center of the room and attempted to exercise.
However, aside from some improvements in areas related to magic, her physical condition had not improved at all.
Her hands were still not steady enough, and her legs still showed no sign of being able to stand. Even when she tried doing push-ups on the mat, she could only manage five or six at most.
Panting, Vera used the Levitation Charm to return to her wheelchair. She lowered her head to look at her still completely numb legs, then leaned back against the chair.
She was still as frail and powerless as before. Even the slightest movement brought the dull ache in her spine lingering after her like a shadow, impossible to shake off.
Was there no other way to speed up her recovery?
Looking at the Magic Circuit level that seemed so far away, Vera lowered her head. A sour, unbearable sense of grievance and unwillingness rose from her chest and refused to fade.
No!
She raised a hand, forcefully wiped away the tears gathering at the corners of her eyes, and sniffed hard.
At least she still had hope.
As long as she continued down this path, she would definitely be able to change her situation.
After quickly steadying her emotions, Vera took a deep breath. The crystal near her heart began to tremble faintly once more.
She realized that after this level-up, she could enter that Void Space again. She hurriedly closed her eyes and skillfully sank her consciousness into the core of her Magic Circuit.
It did not take long this time. As the golden light of the Magic Circuit faintly glimmered beneath her skin, her consciousness sank into the Void Realm—
Slowly opening her eyes and looking at the rune-like stars formed from countless points of light before her, Vera did not rush to make a choice as she had last time. Instead, she calmed herself and looked around carefully.
The biggest difference from her previous visit was that many more of the originally dim runes had lit up, though still fewer than half of them.
Vera stood in the Void Space and looked up at the flickering runes.
Compared to last time, she could now sense the energy fluctuations contained within each rune more clearly.
With a sweep of her gaze, she noticed the pattern. The especially bright runes should be the Ancient Magic best suited to her current circumstances.
As for the slightly dimmer ones, even if she wanted to choose them, she probably did not have enough confidence. Even if she barely learned them, whether she could successfully cast them would still be unknown.
The completely dark ones that could not be seen clearly were magic she was currently utterly incapable of learning.
In that case, she would inspect them one by one. After all, no one would disturb her in the Room of Requirement.
Quietly holding her breath and focusing her mind, Vera chose a bright rune closest to her and examined it—
[Mana Precision Control: Enhances fine control over mana, allowing more complex magical operations.]
This seemed like a good choice, but Vera did not confirm it immediately and instead continued examining the other runes.
Soon, the next rune lit up before her:
[Magical Creature Affinity]: Enhances communication with magical creatures and increases the success rate of taming them.
Her heartbeat quickened slightly. If she could learn this rune, perhaps she could successfully tame the three-headed dog!
Despite the excitement in her heart, Vera remained rational and turned to look at the third rune, which glowed a faint blue:
[Water Element Affinity: Enhances water-related magical effects, including healing spells.]
Vera hesitated for a moment before deciding not to touch it.
This kind of elemental magic was indeed useful, but it was not what she needed at this stage.

Chapter 51: A New Ancient Magic... Prototype
After looking over nearly all the bright and slightly dim runes, Vera had actually already made up her mind.
Just as she was about to touch the rune for [Magical Creature Affinity], a completely dim rune at the edge of her vision unexpectedly flickered with a faint trace of light.
Vera's breathing suddenly stopped, her fingertips hovering in midair as they stiffened slightly.
That rune lay at the edge of a fissure in the Void Space. It had originally been as silent as a meteorite sunk into the deep sea, and Vera had not noticed it at all at first.
But now, like a candle about to go out, it flickered uncertainly, as though it could be swallowed by the surrounding void at any moment.
Curiosity coiled around her heart like a vine. She unconsciously turned her wheelchair toward it, and under her fixed gaze, the rune's outline gradually emerged in the faint light. A piece of information then flooded into her mind—
[Source Flow Reforging]: Choose a part of the body to infuse with mana, granting that part extraordinary functions. Duration depends on mana expenditure.
Vera's pupils abruptly contracted, and her lashes trembled beyond her control.
This rune... could this rune let her stand again?
Even if it only worked for a short time, it was undoubtedly a ray of hope in the darkness for her.
She stared fixedly at the rune as reason and desire clashed fiercely in her mind.
Her Magic Circuit had only just broken through to Control · Beginner Rank. Her mana reserves truly might not be enough to support such high-level magic.
