The torrential rain in the Edge Forest came down with a crashing roar that echoed both within and beyond the woods.

It was a rain that blotted out the sky and covered the earth, pouring down with terrifying force.

The soil on the forest floor had been washed away by the rain, exposing black, glistening patches beneath. Trees swayed wildly in the downpour, and many tender branches were twisted and snapped by the wind and rain before falling to the ground.

It was already November, when late autumn was nearing its end. Rain at this time was the most dreadful, because winter was close at hand. The chill of the rain was enough to make people shrink back, making their skin convulse by reflex.
