The military representative's meeting with Romon was once again arranged inside the Adventurers' Guild.
It was in a room on the third floor. Few people ever came to this floor. As Romon climbed the stairs, the corridor was utterly silent, without a single soul in sight.
Romon regretted it somewhat. Had he known he would not see anyone here, he would have grabbed someone downstairs to show him the way. The person who had notified him had not specified which room on the third floor, only that it was on the third floor. Looking at the dozen or so rooms here, Romon considered whether to go downstairs and find someone to ask, or inspect each room himself.
Just as he was pondering this, two burly men emerged from one of the rooms. Both stood over six feet tall, broad and powerfully built, dressed as soldiers. They had originally turned to walk this way, but when they looked up and saw Romon, their eyes lit up after studying him closely. With steady strides, they headed toward him.
Romon roughly guessed who they were, so he watched them approach with a faint, genial smile.
"Excuse me, are you Lord Romon?" Sure enough, the moment they stopped before him, one of them impatiently asked.
"Yes, I am," Romon replied.
"My lord is waiting for you over here. Please follow me." The burly man who had spoken bowed, then took the lead back the way he had come. Romon did not hesitate and followed the two men toward another door. Watching the way they walked behind them, Romon was somewhat surprised.
A warrior's level could be glimpsed from their gait and conduct. At least from the way these two walked, Romon sensed that they possessed no small amount of strength.
