The banquet did not end until two or three in the afternoon.
The entire hall had been turned into a complete mess. Empty wine jars, plates scraped clean of food, and empty dishes lay scattered everywhere, showing just how lively the banquet had been!
Now that the banquet was over, the air was still thick with the rich fragrance of wine.
Inside the villa's hall, more than a dozen attendants were busy tidying up the disorderly room.
The empty wine jars alone formed a great pile. The amount the guests had drunk left the attendants secretly clicking their tongues in amazement!
The banquet guests had all boarded carriages one after another, supported by their own attendants, and were preparing to return home.
Most of them were six or seven parts drunk. Even those who were usually poor drinkers had thrown caution to the wind over the rare and joyous occasion of their lord's return, truly drinking quite a lot!
"Apart from the necessary patrol personnel, everyone else with official duties will have the third day off!" Nick announced to the officials as soon as he stepped out of the hall.
Slightly drunk himself, he was perhaps the clearest-headed of all the officials. Knowing that after such a grand banquet, no one would be able to continue working three days later, he granted everyone present a day off!
Those who were already drunk naturally could not hear him, but their subordinates and attendants could. They could remind them once they had sobered up. Thus, the noisy crowd gradually climbed into their carriages and departed.
