Elno hurried to the Elven Palace at once, for he sensed that his transformation was imminent again.

Lesser Dragons, as their name suggested, were the offspring of Great Dragons and other creatures.

Perhaps offspring were too difficult for two dragons to produce, so the world had compensated Great Dragons by making it easy for them to sire Lesser Dragons with other creatures.

Strictly speaking, Spiny Sea Dragons belonged to the water-aligned Lesser Dragons. They originally lived along coastlines and around ring-shaped islands, moving only through shallow waters. Whenever necessary, however, they could take flight and prey on sailors and other foolish creatures that strayed into their territory.

Among Dragonkind, Water Lesser Dragons held little status, but Elno had been fortunate. He had been chosen as an experimental subject. Back then, the Elves had bestowed upon him a strand of divinity from some unknown source to observe his biology and development.

Even so, Elno could never have survived seven thousand years, but fortune had smiled on him again. He had slumbered alongside the palace for four thousand years, which had passed like a single night. Over those four thousand years, any restraints would have expired, and without realizing it, he had completely assimilated that strand of divinity.

Over the past three thousand years, as the palace's power weakened, Elno had begun to move about freely.

The terror and storms he created had inadvertently brought him faith power.

His divinity had mutated and developed, altering his body and extending his life.
