"Is the Lord at home?" Outside the Lord's Villa, Nick was questioning the guard stationed at the entrance.
"Lord Nick, the Lord has gone out," the guard answered.
"Gone out? Do you know where he went? Did he say when he would return?" Nick looked at the stack of financial ledgers in his hands. They did not absolutely have to be delivered to Romon today, but making the trip took quite a bit of time, and he did not want to make a wasted journey. So he continued asking.
"Lord Nick, that... I don't know." The guard spoke to Nick with an apologetic expression. This was not something he was entitled to know.
"Forget it. I'll come back later." Waiting here would likely be pointless, so Nick turned to leave.
Just then, three fast horses came riding in from outside and quickly arrived before the Lord's Villa.
