The two "people" who had just spoken were walking away.
Both wore black cloaks, but Cao Yiyan gave the impression of a refined gentleman, gentle as jade. The other kept a much lower profile.
The body wrapped in the black cloak seemed to dislike sunlight. The exposed skin was deathly pale, and the whole figure looked so frail a gust of wind might carry it off.
A faint smile warmed Cao Yiyan's face, though the glance he cast at the figure beside him held a trace of curiosity.
The Heavenly Secret Monster wore a mask whenever they met, hiding his features. Even after dealing with him many times, Cao Yiyan could not help wondering what lay beneath it.
This time, his curiosity was sharper still. The eyes the Heavenly Secret Monster usually showed were plainly not the same as the narrowed eyes he showed now. With a martial master's keen perception, Cao Yiyan could tell at a glance.
Of course, a Great Demon like the Heavenly Secret Monster had no fixed appearance. He might change his looks every so often, while his aura was far too distinctive to counterfeit. Cao Yiyan had felt a flicker of doubt, but it vanished once they spoke.
Monsters might all be much alike when their ferocity surfaced, but each Great Demon had a distinct temperament and aura. Once Cao Yiyan knew one, he would not mistake him, even among ten or a hundred.
Knowing that did nothing to curb his curiosity about why the Heavenly Secret Monster had suddenly changed his appearance again.
Could it have something to do with his sudden visit?
"I'll consider your advice. Thank you for coming to tell me as soon as you heard the news. I won't forget our alliance."
