Its authority rests on both its younger prodigies and its ancient ancestors. The family’s ancestral shrine contains slumbering ancestor-level figures who awaken only during major upheavals; the Eighteenth Ancestor emerged upon Jun Xiaoyao’s birth and immediately ordered the family to devote its resources to his cultivation. 1
