Background

Xiao Chen is the eldest prince of the Azure Dragon Ancient Kingdom and Bai Yu’er’s childhood acquaintance and former fiancé. The Azure Dragon Ancient Kingdom arranged their engagement after promising the Vermilion Bird Ancient Kingdom an Undying Medicine, but the promise remained unfulfilled as the Vermilion Bird Ruler’s condition worsened. 11

His late mother left him the Panlong Ring. Years before his clash with Jun Xiaoyao, the ring began providing him with cultivation techniques and mana, forming the basis of his exceptional talent and confidence. 14

When Bai Yu’er was humiliated at the Jun Family, Xiao Chen unsuccessfully asked his father for the Azure Dragon Ancient Kingdom’s sole ancestral immortal medicine. Convinced that he could master a powerful move and overturn the situation himself, he traveled alone to the Jun Family to reclaim Bai Yu’er and challenge Jun Xiaoyao. 14 15

Conflict with the Jun Family

Xiao Chen travels to the Jun Family believing he can rescue Bai Yu’er and defeat Jun Xiaoyao. Instead, Bai Yu’er rebukes him, ends their engagement, and declares her intent to serve Jun Xiaoyao. 16 17

He challenges the eight-year-old Jun Xiaoyao to a duel despite being roughly fifteen or sixteen himself. Jun Xiaoyao crushes his Azure Dragon Heaven-Shattering Fist, defeats his temporary surge to the sixth level of the Divine Palace Realm, and destroys the Azure Dragon Heavenly Throne Seal. 17 18

When Xiao Chen threatens a rematch in three years, Jun Xiaoyao prevents his departure, extracts his Dragon Aura, destroys his meridians, and has him thrown beyond the Jun Family’s mountain gate. 19 20

Rebuilding and Seeking Revenge

Xiao Chen’s blood awakens the Panlong Ring, revealing Azure Dragon High Person. The ancestor identifies him as the Azure Dragon Ancient Kingdom’s child of national fortune and gives him the Azure Heaven Transformation Art as a path to recovery. 20

Three years later, Xiao Chen has rebuilt himself to the Mid-Stage Divine Bridge Realm and cultivated the Azure Heaven Transformation Art to its fourth level. He remains focused on surpassing Jun Xiaoyao and forcing Bai Yu’er to regret leaving him. 42

Wu Mingyue and the Secret Treasury

While training in Kun Province, Xiao Chen rescues Wu Mingyue from the Demon Wolf Bandits. Following Azure Dragon High Person’s advice, he cultivates a relationship with her because of her hidden background, while presenting an embellished account of his conflict with Jun Xiaoyao. 43

After learning that Yuantian Supreme’s Secret Treasury has emerged, Xiao Chen heads for the Southern Origin Dao Province to seek the Ancient Dragon Bones. He believes they will perfect his Azure Heaven Transformation Art and help Azure Dragon High Person reconstruct a physical body. 21 44
