Clark lives publicly as a somewhat awkward Daily Planet reporter in Metropolis while secretly operating as Superman. Raised by adoptive parents in Kansas and deeply connected to the Kent farm in Smallville, he initially views his abilities as tools to protect people rather than authority to judge them.
