Background / History
After Steve Trevor’s death during World War I, Diana became disillusioned with humanity’s wars and withdrew from heroism. For nearly a century, she lived under the name Diana Prince, working quietly as an antiquities restorer at Washington, D.C.’s National Museum of Natural History. 42 44
Bruce Wayne located her during General Zod’s invasion. His knowledge of her Amazon heritage provoked her into attacking him, but his warning that Apokolips and Darkseid endangered both Earth and Paradise Island compelled her to listen. The Lasso of Truth verified Bruce’s resolve, and Diana agreed to return as Wonder Woman. 43 44
She retrieved her Amazon armor and weapons, joined Bruce, Clark Kent, and Barry Allen in the Batcave, and fought in the Kryptonian conflict. During the battle, she annihilated multiple Kryptonian soldiers, helped destroy the World Engine, and later accepted Bruce’s proposal to form the Justice League. 45 50 51 53
As the League developed, Diana became its bridge to supernatural and mythological affairs. Bruce assigned her to contact Arthur Curry and Atlantis, while also recognizing her as a vital mentor for less experienced members such as Barry and Clark. 49 55
Appearance
Diana combines an ageless, regal presence with the bearing of a veteran warrior. In civilian life, she favors elegant modern clothing; as Wonder Woman, she wears ceremonial Amazon battle armor marked by a golden double-W eagle. 43 45 73
- Deep brown or sapphire-blue eyes, long black curls, and an imposing mythic presence. 43 73
- Civilian identity: an understated antiquities restorer, later seen in white dresses, silk blouses, and covert dark clothing. 42 73 79
- Wonder Woman armor includes a red breastplate, blue battle skirt, golden tiara, divine bracers, boots, shield, sword, and the Lasso of Truth. 45
Personality
Diana is disciplined, direct, and guided by a warrior’s sense of responsibility. Though initially weary of human conflict, she responds decisively when innocent lives, Paradise Island, or the wider world are threatened. 44 45
Her long combat experience makes her patient with inexperienced allies but intolerant of careless overconfidence. During Barry’s training, she defeats him without cruelty, identifies the tactical flaws in his fighting style, and continues coaching him afterward. 49
Diana is also perceptive and restrained. She detects Bruce’s lies about Catwoman through subtle changes in his heartbeat and mental state, but chooses not to expose him or force a confession. 80
Abilities & Skills
Amazon Physiology
Diana possesses divine strength, speed, durability, and combat reflexes far beyond ordinary humans.
- Matched Bruce’s armored strength with force capable of overturning a tank. 43
- Moves quickly enough to leave afterimages and intercepts attacks at extraordinary speed. 43 50
- Physically restrained an enraged werewolf using the Lasso of Truth. 75
- Withstood and engaged Kryptonian warriors in direct combat. 50
Master Combatant
Diana has thousands of years of Amazon combat experience and uses timing, environmental awareness, and instinct rather than relying on strength alone. 48 49
- Predicted Barry Allen’s direct high-speed attack and countered him with a precisely timed elbow strike. 49
- Tracked Barry without sight by reading sound, airflow, floor vibrations, and battle instinct. 49
- Taught Barry to use feints, directional changes, timing, and strategy instead of straightforward speed. 49
- Her disciplined fighting style became a weakness against an Apokoliptian combat algorithm that could learn from predictable techniques. 108
Divine Power Shock
By striking her Guardian Silver Bracelets together, Diana releases a golden shockwave that disrupts reality and spatial laws. 49
- Forced Barry out of his phasing state by destabilizing the vibration of his particles. 49
- Functions as an answer to intangible or spatially altered opponents, though its precise limits are not established. 49
Warrior Leadership
Diana can coordinate superhuman allies under battlefield pressure.
- Organized the League’s defensive line during the Apokoliptian invasion of New York. 112
- Directed Superman and Supergirl to break the Parademon formation and reassigned Green Lantern to protect them from Desaad’s psychic attack. 112
