At dawn, in the forest, a huge pit had appeared at some unknown time. Three wolves were inside it, gnawing at something. "Sis, look! There are three wolves ahead—just ordinary beasts."

Not far away, a little boy who looked only ** years old spoke to the little girl beside him. The girl did not look much older, around ten. The brother and sister were thin and scrawny, yet their eyes were exceptionally bright. They wore crudely treated animal-hide clothes wrapped tightly around them, even their hair concealed within.

If their faces had not been exposed, it would have been impossible to tell their ages. The older sister carried a basket on her back and a large coil of rope, utterly out of proportion to her tiny body, like she was hauling an entire pile of goods.

The younger brother was more simply equipped. He carried a quiver of arrows and held a bow in his hand. "Be careful. Don't get hurt. If we can get a wolf pelt, we won't have to worry for the next week."

As she spoke, the little girl even licked her lips. The little boy nodded. "Don't worry, Sis. I definitely won't let these wolves get away." As he spoke, he cautiously approached and slowly drew back the bowstring. Whether because the bow was too large or the boy was too small, he could only draw the longbow halfway before he could go no further.

With a soft whoosh, the boy released the string, and the arrow flashed away. The three wolves, which had been gnawing at something unknown, stopped abruptly upon hearing the sound. The next moment, one wolf had been struck in the waist by an arrow.
