Cheng Xiaoyu had just hung up the phone. Before he could even breathe a sigh of relief, someone walked into the lounge.
A tall, handsome Superior Human.
His hair was meticulously combed, and he was fairly good-looking. One of the students from the room earlier followed behind him.
"Look who I brought."
The student called out happily to Cheng Xiaoyu.
This student was also a Superior Human, and one of Cheng Xiaoyu's bootlickers.
After Teacher Sun said there was nothing he could do, the student's eyes shifted, and he ran out to call his older brother over.
His older brother was a second-year student who had come today to watch his classmates' matches.
When he heard about this, he was naturally delighted.
He certainly would not become a bootlicker himself, but if he could help Cheng Xiaoyu out, he might even be able to turn Cheng Xiaoyu into his own bootlicker.
Wouldn't it be great to have such a wealthy underling?
So he hurried over with his younger brother.
"Senior Lin."
"Hello, Senior."
Many people recognized this senior and immediately greeted him. Cheng Xiaoyu also hurriedly greeted him.
Senior Lin smiled. He looked very mature as he asked Cheng Xiaoyu in the tone of an elder.
"What, is something wrong with your mecha?"
Cheng Xiaoyu nodded awkwardly. He had just called Fu Junlin over, and if Fu Junlin had a solution, he did not want to owe anyone else a favor.
He could see exactly what was in these people's eyes. It made him sick.
"Yeah, Bro. Today's fight is especially important to Xiaoyu. Hurry up and help him fix it. Teacher Sun already said there was nothing he could do, so just treat a dead horse like a live one!"
The second Lin brother chimed in repeatedly.
With one sentence, he backed Senior Lin into a corner where he could not refuse to help, while also leaving Cheng Xiaoyu no choice but to accept the help.
"Fine. I had something to do, but I'll take a look first."
Senior Lin pretended to be troubled. He first glanced at his watch before walking over to inspect the mecha.
Cheng Xiaoyu had no way to stop him and could only let Senior Lin examine the mecha.
Senior Lin looked it over a few times, then rather roughly reached in, grabbed the internal structure, and tugged and shook it hard. Cheng Xiaoyu's brows immediately furrowed.
Only then did Senior Lin shake his head and say,
"Take it apart first. You can't even see clearly like this. Open it up and take a look. Maybe it'll be fixed in ten-odd minutes."
As he spoke, he began looking for the seams on the mecha, preparing to dismantle it.
Cheng Xiaoyu froze.
"My second match starts in less than ten minutes. This..."
After taking it apart, it might still take more than ten minutes to fix. The second match would begin in under ten minutes. Wouldn't that mean he had to forfeit the second match? If it got delayed, what if it still was not fixed by the third match?
Just dismantling and reassembling it would not be something that could be done quickly.
"Then don't compete in the second match. You should be able to make the third one!"
Senior Lin said with a slight frown.
"No."
Cheng Xiaoyu blurted it out.
"Hm?"
Senior Lin immediately turned back and glared at him in displeasure, his eyes filled with extreme impatience, as though blaming him for contradicting him.
"My friend will be here soon. He said he has a solution. Senior Lin, why don't you just keep an eye on things from the side?"
Cheng Xiaoyu tried to phrase it politely, but the meaning was no longer particularly polite.
He truly did not expect much from Senior Lin.
Forget a second-year student—even a third-year student had been taught by the same teachers. Teacher Sun had already said there was no solution, so what could a second-year student possibly do?
Compared to him, Cheng Xiaoyu would rather trust Fu Junlin, who had spotted the problem with his mecha from a distance two days ago.
Senior Lin and the surrounding students were all stunned.
Was this guy sick? He was refusing Senior Lin's help to wait for Fu Junlin?
Saying he could keep an eye on things from the side was already putting it nicely. The unspoken meaning was that he should just stand there and watch.
"Brother Yu, are you stupid? What could Fu Junlin possibly do? He only said that because he wanted to suck up to you. You don't understand that?"
"Exactly. Senior Lin means well. Don't delay something important just because of one sentence from Fu Junlin!"
The students immediately began trying to persuade him all at once.
"Fu Junlin? That kid who put on a show in the Arena Zone? Isn't he a War Banner Master? A freshman who only switched to mecha in the second half of the year?"
Senior Lin asked in confusion. Fu Junlin was not exactly a famous figure, but he was still a topic of casual gossip.
Many people at Flying Cloud Vine School knew the name.
Only after Second Lin went out did he learn that Cheng Xiaoyu had actually called Fu Junlin over.
He immediately said in dissatisfaction,
"Xiaoyu, what do you mean by this? I even called my brother over, but you insist on waiting for Fu Junlin!?"
Cheng Xiaoyu took a deep breath in anger and glanced at Second Lin, inwardly cursing his bad luck.
You think I don't know what you're after?
Besides, his brother had nothing to do with his match. If he let him dismantle the mecha now, then even if he could not fix it and Cheng Xiaoyu lost the next two matches, Cheng Xiaoyu would still owe the brothers a favor. They could at least say they had helped dismantle it and tried their best. What use was that?
Senior Lin merely chuckled and raised a hand to stop Second Lin.
"It's fine. Let's wait. I also want to see what he can do better than me."
Smiling, he sat down. He had apparently forgotten his act from earlier about being in a hurry and having something to do after checking his watch.
Just as they were speaking, Fu Junlin ran in through the door, drenched in sweat. He had rushed straight here from the gym and had not even caught his breath.
When Cheng Xiaoyu saw Fu Junlin, he hurriedly went over to greet him.
"Brother Fu, you're here."
"How many minutes until the next match starts?"
Fu Junlin braced himself against the doorframe, caught his breath, and asked.
"Seven minutes."
Cheng Xiaoyu anxiously said after checking his watch.
"Don't panic. There's plenty of time!"
Fu Junlin gave him a reassuring gesture, and Cheng Xiaoyu immediately relaxed.
Having made that guarantee, Fu Junlin did not waste words and headed straight for the mecha.
He did not even need to inspect it carefully. He had already seen how it was broken and how badly it was damaged two days ago.
At the moment, the mecha's waist and left chest armor plates were both open. A slight bend at the waist gave a view of the internal structure.
As Fu Junlin casually glanced inside, Second Lin let out a cold snort.
"Ridiculous."
The two words were extremely impolite, yet they did not seem out of place at that moment.
Fu Junlin turned to look and only then noticed there was also a second-year senior here.
"Fu Junlin, can you stop acting like this? What do you know about mechas?"
One student said disgustedly.
The others also muttered in agreement one after another, expressing their dissatisfaction.
Fu Junlin glanced at Cheng Xiaoyu. Cheng Xiaoyu gave him a helpless look, and Fu Junlin shrugged. He had no intention of responding and was preparing to begin repairs directly.
At that moment, the second-year senior spoke.
