"You're Fu Junlin?"
The senior stood up, walked over, and sized him up.
Cheng Xiaoyu wished he could kick them all out. Could they stop fucking yapping? He still had a competition to enter!
Fortunately, Fu Junlin was unaffected. He reached his hand inside, fiddling with the mechanism as he replied:
"Mm, hello, Senior."
"Heh, you know how to repair mechs? Cheng Xiaoyu seems to think you're better than me."
Senior Lin sneered, his voice turning several degrees colder.
"I wouldn't dare claim that. I only know a little."
Fu Junlin smiled faintly.
"And where did you learn that little bit? The semester only started three days ago!"
Senior Lin pressed him aggressively.
Fu Junlin frowned slightly, pulled out his hand, and asked in confusion:
"Why don't you repair it, Senior? There are still six minutes left."
"Fu Junlin, what do you mean by that?!"
Second Lin immediately glared at him and pointed a finger at Fu Junlin as he demanded an explanation.
Fu Junlin's meaning was obvious: if you could do it, then do it. Otherwise, stop yapping.
"You mean you can fix this thing in six minutes?"
Senior Lin smiled meaningfully.
"It won't take that long."
Fu Junlin stared at him as he answered.
"Idiot. There's a problem with the power structure inside. Even Teacher Sun came by just now and couldn't do anything. He said the balancer had to be replaced with a new one. You think you can fix it? What a joke."
A student beside them snorted mockingly.
"Don't let ignorance limit your thoughts and actions. Read more books."
Fu Junlin smiled faintly as he replied to him.
He had not wanted to provoke these people, but their mouths were just too foul.
"What did you say?!"
The guy immediately flared up.
"Enough!!"
Cheng Xiaoyu shouted sharply, and only then did everyone quiet down.
"Senior, do you want to repair it? You can go first!"
Fu Junlin asked Senior Lin for confirmation.
Senior Lin sneered and shook his head.
"Of course I want to repair it, but if I fix it, how will I prove that you can't? You go first."
After saying that, he smiled and made an inviting gesture.
The implication was that he intended to expose Fu Junlin's attention-seeking act right in front of everyone.
Fu Junlin stopped paying attention to him.
"Junlin, are you confident?"
Cheng Xiaoyu asked in a low, somewhat nervous voice.
Fu Junlin swept his gaze over the people around him who looked down on him, let out a derisive snort, then gave Cheng Xiaoyu a reassuring look.
He took four 2.0 Superalloy clips from his pocket.
The moment they saw them, everyone froze. Cheng Xiaoyu was also astonished. This model was exactly the same as the clips used inside his mech. Without the blueprints, ordinary people would not know about them. He became even more convinced that Fu Junlin truly had skills.
Fu Junlin directly reached his hand inside, targeted a structural bracket, twisted the internal connection point several times, then suddenly exerted force and yanked.
Crack!!
With a sharp snap, a discarded clip sprang out and fell to the ground.
The mech's upper body gave a loud clunk and tilted even farther to one side, making it look even worse than before.
The students around them immediately let out mocking chuckles, all waiting to see him make a fool of himself.
"Replacing the balancer is certainly one solution, but the issue isn't with the balancer. It's with the power structure.
"The root cause is that the structure cannot support repeated switching in the dual-blade attack mode. This causes the X-shaped structure to shift. Once it shifts even slightly, it will keep shifting, just like when a stool's weld point breaks. If it continues bearing force, it can never return in the original direction, so it will inevitably reach its load limit and jam at a certain point.
"The solution is simple. As long as you change this X-shaped support into an umbrella-rib support structure, the problem can be perfectly resolved!"
As he spoke, Fu Junlin snapped off the lower corner of another structural piece. Another discarded clip popped out, and then Fu Junlin pushed in one of the clips he had prepared.
This caused the structural frame to shift.
The original two-point fixation also became four-point fixation on the lower section.
While Fu Junlin explained, Cheng Xiaoyu could barely keep up, but to the other students, it was practically like listening to a heavenly scripture.
They simply could not understand what Fu Junlin was talking about.
The difference between poor students and top students was that what was difficult for one was easy for the other.
Knowledge was not something you automatically mastered just because you had studied it longer. You might have learned a middle school math problem, forgotten it, or never understood it. In the end, it might only become a blind spot on an exam, and once the exam was over, that was that.
Never mind second or third year of middle school—even after entering university, if you did not know it, you still did not know it.
You would never know it for the rest of your life!
When a first-year middle school student casually solved that problem right in front of you with practiced ease, there were only two words you could say.
And as Senior Lin listened to Fu Junlin's explanation and watched his repair methods, a trace of cold sweat slowly seeped onto his forehead.
He did possess some real ability, so naturally he understood Fu Junlin's words. When he tried thinking about it from that angle, he found it difficult, but Fu Junlin seemed to be right.
When Cheng Xiaoyu noticed Senior Lin's reaction, he secretly laughed. Feeling mischievous, he put on a worried expression and asked Senior Lin:
"Senior, how is Junlin's repair going? Is it almost done? Is what he said correct?"
Fu Junlin had already withdrawn his hand and propped up the mech's upper body, seemingly about to enter the testing phase.
It looked like he would not be able to trample Fu Junlin after all. Fu Junlin should be able to fix it, but he could not let himself be outdone either.
He still had to be the expert here.
Senior Lin immediately cleared his throat, crossed his arms, assumed the posture of a senior, and said slowly:
"Mm, not bad. He knows how to flexibly apply basic knowledge. The mech should be fine now."
He even nodded after saying that.
Cheng Xiaoyu then asked Fu Junlin:
"Junlin, is it done?"
Fu Junlin took several more clips from his pocket and, pretending not to hear Senior Lin's evaluation, replied:
"Oh, not yet. Almost."
As he spoke, he reached his hand inside again and started tinkering away with a series of clicks.
Senior Lin's face immediately reddened with anger, and the atmosphere turned gloomy for a moment.
Cheng Xiaoyu stuck out his tongue. This was far too awkward.
Second Lin also shot his brother a reproachful look. If you didn't understand, then don't pretend you did! Damn it, wasn't that getting exposed on the spot?
After installing two more clips, Fu Junlin gave something inside a twist.
The mech's energy system activated. With several crisp clicking sounds, the mech rose completely upright. The waist and chest armor panels slowly closed, and it actually returned to normal, moving freely again!
However, Fu Junlin made it stop and circled around it for another inspection.
Cheng Xiaoyu finally let out a huge sigh of relief and asked Senior Lin again:
"Senior, it should be fixed this time, right?"
Senior Lin shot him a frowning look. His tone was no longer as forceful as before. Holding back a bellyful of anger, he snapped irritably:
"Do you even need to ask? Isn't it already fixed?!"
He looked as though he wanted to turn around and leave immediately.
But at that moment, Fu Junlin, standing behind the mech, spoke again.
"Brother Cheng, open the rear waist guard panel on your mech. There are two more brackets. Hurry, there's one last step left."
