Ch. 441At the End of Their Strength Before the Beast Tide
Plot points and events
- Ba Dawang and Ba Xiaomei arrive as reinforcements, apparently sent after the command operator alerted them. Their powerful attacks draw monsters away from Su Ming’s embattled troops, easing pressure on the defensive formation.
- The relief is temporary: the monsters are stronger and more numerous than those the pair faced at the Iron Hand Front. Ba Xiaomei’s sword gets lodged in a Level-Six boss, forcing her to use her Lion’s Roar Technique and a spinning sword attack to escape the immediate press.
- From the air, Ba Xiaomei sees that more monsters are still pouring in. Ba Dawang is likewise overwhelmed, fighting in a berserk state fueled by energy from his pack—a boost that cannot last.
- Su Ming learns from the operator that the pair are close to exhaustion. He orders his troops to change formation and fight toward them, but the monster tide blocks their advance.
- Ba Dawang is struck from behind, then knocked into the air and left vulnerable. As a leopard-like monster lunges for his throat, an unidentified figure intervenes and destroys it with a punch. The chapter ends before the newcomer is revealed.
Character developments and interactions
- Su Ming remains focused on protecting his troops, but recognizes that their survival depends on rescuing Ba Dawang and Ba Xiaomei. He acts decisively despite the seemingly impossible odds.
- Ba Xiaomei displays exceptional skill and composure under pressure, but the battlefield’s scale and tougher enemies begin to overwhelm her.
- Ba Dawang fights with increasing ferocity, but his berserk power comes at a cost and leaves him exposed.
- The operator monitors the battle and warns Su Ming that the reinforcements are running out of strength, though he cannot contact them directly.
- Su Ming’s troops depend on Ba Dawang and Ba Xiaomei to draw the monsters away; in turn, the pair appear to be buying the army time at great personal risk.
Significant themes
- Limits of individual strength: Even formidable fighters cannot turn back an effectively endless tide alone.
- Sacrifice and mutual reliance: The reinforcements protect the troops, while Su Ming risks the formation to try to reach them.
- Escalating danger: Enemies stronger than those encountered earlier and their overwhelming numbers make survival increasingly uncertain.
