Second Synchronization

"Fuck!"

Morien exclaimed and blinked.

The eyelashless eye before him blinked as well.

The next moment, a vast amount of knowledge was poured into Morien's mind.

Mystery Pryers could master all manner of mystical knowledge, including magic, witchcraft, astrology, and ritual magic.

Aside from the portion inherently provided by the potion itself, Mystery Pryers could often suddenly acquire techniques, magic, or witchcraft they had never encountered before.

That was the reason.

Knowledge chased after people.

The Hidden Sage, the sentient Uniqueness of the Mystery Pryer pathway, had one greatest hobby: cramming all the knowledge It possessed into Mystery Pryers' heads in one bundled package.

That sounded wonderful, but reality was not so pleasant.

The Hidden Sage never cared whether Mystery Pryers could bear Its knowledge, simply uploading everything into them at once.

Mystery Pryers were often stuffed so full of knowledge that their heads nearly exploded, yet after it was over, they found it difficult to remember much.

Before Morien could react, all kinds of information flooded into his mind in one overwhelming rush.

From various witchcraft and magic to postpartum care for sows.

All sorts of useful and useless information were crammed into Morien's head.

Morien's brain crashed in an instant, and his head felt as though it were splitting apart.

However, what had appeared before Morien did not seem to be a backup of the Hidden Sage's data, but merely an avatar.

That was normal. Faced with a Sequence 9, no matter how bored the Hidden Sage was, It would not come in person.

It probably did not even know Morien existed. As a Uniqueness, It had merely noticed that another "Mystery Pryer" had appeared in the world, so It casually tossed over two installation packages.

What a magnificent open-source spirit.

Praise open source.

After being stunned for several seconds, Morien quickly recovered. Other than the headache making him want to slam his head into a wall, he was basically fine.

Having synchronized once before, his brain processed information more than three times faster than an ordinary person's. Thus, he recovered far more quickly than a normal Sequence 9 and came to his senses before the eye before him vanished.

"Stuffing information into my head?"

"What gives you the right to stuff information into my head?! You don't even know how many ways there are to write the character for fennel in fennel beans!"

"I really need to teach you a lesson!"

Looking at the eye before him, Morien tore off the mask that had shifted to the side of his face after he drank the potion and slapped it toward the eye.

For a relationship to last, there had to be give and take. I'll throw you a couple of installation packages too.

The illusory eye neither dodged nor evaded.

It was a data entity without a physical form.

Physical attacks had no meaning against It...

Slap!

The mask struck one of the eyes.

The eye winced in pain, swiftly closed, and vanished.

"Hmph!" Watching the Hidden Sage disappear, Morien snorted and put his mask back on.

His mask could not be too far away from his body. After all, he still needed its protection to keep the Outer Deities from noticing him.

He was basically at the point where his body would automatically explode if it got more than a hundred meters away from the mask.

"Whew..."

He forcefully exhaled and closed his somewhat dry eyes.

A Mystery Pryer's Eyes of Mystery Prying was a passive ability that could not normally be turned off, making it especially easy to see things one should not see.

But that did not have much impact on him.

With the mask, most forms of corruption other than wish power could scarcely harm him.

The biggest issue was probably that seeing too much could keep his brain under heavy load all day long, which was exhausting.

"I wonder if other worlds have a way to solve that." Morien muttered to himself as he looked into the mirror.

Hmm, nearly ten hours had passed since he left that miraculous space.

By rights, the Shibuya Incident in the jujutsu world should have ended by now, right?

Morien remembered that his self in the jujutsu world was currently in the midst of the Shibuya Incident.

However, based on his experience reading novels, the passage of time in different worlds was usually different in stories where people transmigrated simultaneously.

So Morien was not sure how his other self was doing now.

A large part of why he had been so eager to trade formulas with Alger was to obtain more Beyonder Abilities sooner, preventing the self who could only "send messages from afar" from being turned into a speed bump by the Four Calamities.

Even without counting what he had gained from knowledge chasing after people, the Mystery Pryer's own abilities were quite decent.

They understood quite a bit of magic, witchcraft, astrology, and ritual magic. They could easily sense certain existences hidden behind things. They could even rapidly complete ritual magic, accomplishing with little material or assistance what other Beyonders needed hours to achieve.

They also possessed Eyes of Mystery Prying, which allowed them to see more than Beyonders of the same Sequence from most pathways. They could observe the states of a target's astral body, ether body, and mental body; examine every detail of the astral body; and see certain things around them that could not normally be seen—or should not be seen.

Simply put, they had extraordinarily powerful observation abilities. With their naked eyes alone, they could see spirit bodies, judge a person's emotions, and even achieve something akin to a Spectator's "mind reading." To a certain extent, they could very easily determine a person's thoughts and physical condition, tell whether someone was sick, and identify their flaws.

Other than being unable to turn off the Eyes of Mystery Prying and being liable to suddenly die from looking around everywhere, it basically had no drawbacks.

Morien patted his face and sensed himself.

As he had expected, the "Mystery Pryer" potion had melted the moment it entered his mouth.

He was now at the perfect peak of Sequence 9.

That was perfectly reasonable.

He was a man who had seen the third Blasphemy Slate, a walking "Blasphemer."

The secrets he knew might not be especially numerous, but their quality and level were certainly high.

If the Hidden Sage were to devour him, the Sage might very well pull off an "Original Creator revives within me" on the spot and give this universe something huge.

Morien casually walked to the bedside, sat down, and tried to mobilize the power within him, issuing the command: "Return Space."

The next moment, profound darkness surged in from all around and wrapped around him.

When he opened his eyes again, Morien had returned to the space that made him feel incomparably safe.

"Ah, this place is still the best." He spread his arms with a smile.

At that moment, he noticed another version of himself crouching in the corner.

As Morien, they shared a special connection and could distinguish one another with ease.

The Morien from the mysterious world knew that was the Morien from the Honkai: Star Rail world.

"Why... why..." Honkai: Star Rail Morien muttered, his eyes wide and filled with confusion. "What is this... what is this..."

He looked a little frightening.

Mysterious-world Morien looked around and quickly found another version of himself nearby.

"What's wrong with him?" Carefully avoiding Honkai: Star Rail Morien, mysterious-world Morien walked to jujutsu-world Morien's side. "Don't tell me he saw Cthulhu?"

"Wait, does the Honkai: Star Rail world even have Cthulhu?"

"If I touch him and synchronize memories, will I get corrupted?"

"Oh, no." Jujutsu-world Morien replied. "He merely synchronized my memories."

"Huh?" Mysterious-world Morien jumped aside and put some distance between them. "What the hell did you do?"

"Nothing much." Jujutsu-world Morien looked at mysterious-world Morien with a somewhat strange expression. "You'll know once you take a look."

He extended his hand toward mysterious-world Morien.

After hesitating for a moment, mysterious-world Morien took it.

Only then did jujutsu-world Morien's explanation arrive.

He grinned.

"Nothing much."

"I just ate sweet strawberry mapo tofu at a convenience store in Japan."

Something even more terrifying than Cthulhu had appeared!
