Background and History

Transmigration and the *Clover*

Morien was a nineteen-year-old Chinese college student before mysteriously falling into the sea and awakening in the Lord of Mysteries world. Rescued by the captain of the Clover, he arrived in the aftermath of a pirate attack and became trapped aboard the ship when its desperate crew erupted into a murderous mutiny. 1

Initially frail and unable to understand the local language, Morien survived by remaining still and suppressing his presence, causing other people to overlook him. His face became covered in glowing crack-like markings, isolating him from the survivors until Tris publicly reframed him as another victim of the ship’s crisis. 1

His loneliness eventually brought him into the Synchronization Space, where he met alternate incarnations from the Honkai: Star Rail and Jujutsu Kaisen worlds. Contact synchronized their memories, physical traits, energy systems, and abilities, establishing Morien as part of an expanding network of parallel selves rather than a single isolated transmigrator. 1 2

Lord of Mysteries Activities

After learning to exploit the Mask of Joy and Wish Power, Morien engineered a sea monster from the crew’s accumulated desires and helped end the Clover crisis. Tris later credited him with defeating the creature, substantially improving his standing among the survivors. 3 4 8

Morien pressured Alger Wilson into supplying materials for the Mystery Pryer potion, leveraging his knowledge of Alger’s identity, Pathway, and possessions. He then advanced to Sequence 9 and received the Hidden Sage’s overwhelming knowledge synchronization. 7 8 10

He eventually settled in Backlund under forged identification, joined the Divination Club to find Klein Moretti, and recognized Klein as fellow transmigrator Zhou Mingrui. Klein later accepted him into the Tarot Club under the codename Mr. Tower. 34 40 42 44

Shibuya Incident

The Jujutsu Kaisen incarnation entered the Shibuya Incident with little Cursed Energy and a seemingly non-offensive Resonance Curse Technique. He developed its applications through combat, using Propagation to heal from severe wounds, overwhelm Haruta Shigemo with replicated voices, and create the Fortune-Collecting Mother Insect. 13 14 16

Morien later fought alongside Nanami, Naobito, Maki, and Megumi against Dagon. He disrupted Dagon’s Shikigami, escaped the Domain by converting his Cursed Energy into spirituality, and ultimately battled the resurrected Toji Fushiguro until Toji regained his sanity. 18 19 21 25

One-Punch Man Activities

The One-Punch Man incarnation initially survived in Z-City by living near Saitama. Loneliness triggered his Monsterification, granting him a physically enhanced body and the “Déjà Vu” ability that makes weaker people mistake him for someone familiar and trustworthy. 16 17

After restoring Mosquito Girl with his blood and accepting her as his first follower, Morien sought training from Bang. His sparring match with Bang clarified the Melee Scholar acting method: combat, enjoyment, and practical insight matter more than theoretical understanding alone. 29 31 32

Lands Between Activities

A later incarnation survived three days in an unidentified fog-covered ruin before gaining the Lonely Monster ability. After developing insect-swarm transformation and identifying the world as the Lands Between, he met Thops and became his student. 42 48 49

Morien used Reverse Cursed Technique to restore Thops’s health, mastered all of Thops’s magical knowledge within a month, and encouraged the discarded sorcerer’s research into the connection between sorcery and incantations. 50

Appearance

Morien usually appears as a black-haired Eastern youth wearing an orange-red mask. Though initially ordinary-looking, his body develops fluorescent, crack-like markings associated with Entropy Loss and Propagation. 1 29

Morien is playful, sarcastic, and unusually irreverent toward powerful beings. He mocks the Hidden Sage, treats the Gray Fog with casual familiarity, and uses humor even when negotiating with dangerous Beyonders or facing lethal enemies. 10 40 41

He is highly opportunistic and willing to manipulate others through information, supernatural influence, or carefully constructed deals. His conduct toward Alger, gangsters, and Thops shows considerable moral flexibility, though he is not indifferent to suffering and repeatedly prioritizes protecting his alternate selves from isolation or death. 7 29 34 49

Despite calling himself a Royal Insect and embracing his nonhuman nature, Morien is affectionate toward his offspring. He treats Fortune-Collecting and Qiu Si with pride and parental warmth, even while imposing unreasonable expectations on them. 16 41 43
