Background and History

Transmigration and the *Clover*

Morien was a nineteen-year-old Chinese college student before mysteriously falling into the sea and awakening in the Lord of Mysteries world. Rescued by the captain of the Clover, he arrived in the aftermath of a pirate attack and became trapped aboard the ship when its desperate crew erupted into a murderous mutiny. 1

Initially frail and unable to understand the local language, Morien survived by remaining still and suppressing his presence, causing other people to overlook him. His face became covered in glowing crack-like markings, isolating him from the survivors until Tris publicly reframed him as another victim of the ship’s crisis. 1

His loneliness eventually brought him into the Synchronization Space, where he met alternate incarnations from the Honkai: Star Rail and Jujutsu Kaisen worlds. Contact synchronized their memories, physical traits, energy systems, and abilities, establishing Morien as part of an expanding network of parallel selves rather than a single isolated transmigrator. 1 2

The glowing markings were identified as Entropy Loss, a Propagation-related condition caused by the Star Rail incarnation’s isolation and status as an anomaly. While the condition initially manifested as “death upon leaving the group,” Morien also discovered that an unexplained power was influencing observers’ attention and concealing his abnormalities. 2 56

Lord of Mysteries Activities

After learning to exploit the Mask of Joy and Wish Power, Morien engineered a sea monster from the crew’s accumulated desires and helped end the Clover crisis. Tris later credited him with defeating the creature, substantially improving his standing among the survivors. 3 4 8

Morien pressured Alger Wilson into supplying materials for the Mystery Pryer potion, leveraging his knowledge of Alger’s identity, Pathway, and possessions. He then advanced to Sequence 9 and received the Hidden Sage’s overwhelming knowledge synchronization. 7 8 10

He eventually settled in Backlund under forged identification, joined the Divination Club to find Zhou Mingrui, and recognized Klein as fellow transmigrator Zhou Mingrui. Klein later accepted him into the Tarot Club under the codename Mr. Tower. 34 40 42 44

Morien’s activities against Tingen’s gangs funded his false identity and later left the local criminal groups effectively bankrupt. His accumulated combat experience, the other Moriens’ study and battles, and his own increasingly reckless fights allowed him to fully digest the Melee Scholar Potion. 34 62 82

After becoming a Warlock, Morien developed a more versatile repertoire of ritual, Flesh Magic, and swarm-based spells. He assisted Dunn Smith, Klein, and the Nighthawks in restoring Old Neil’s body and scattered spirit from severe corruption, using Wish Power, Grazing, Flesh Magic, and his domain. 89

Morien later clashed with Mr. Z of the Aurora Order after rejecting recruitment and mocking the Order’s claim to priority jurisdiction over a supernatural incident. The battle against the Oracle pushed Morien through repeated near-death states, culminating in a Black Flash and his complete Sequence 8 digestion. 79 82

Shibuya Incident

The Jujutsu Kaisen incarnation entered the Shibuya Incident with little Cursed Energy and a seemingly non-offensive Resonance Curse Technique. He developed its applications through combat, using Propagation to heal from severe wounds, overwhelm Haruta Shigemo with replicated voices, and create the Fortune-Collecting Mother Insect. 13 14 16

Morien later fought alongside Nanami, Naobito, Maki, and Megumi against Dagon. He disrupted Dagon’s Shikigami, escaped the Domain by converting his Cursed Energy into spirituality, and ultimately battled the resurrected Toji Fushiguro until Toji regained his sanity. 18 19 21 25

His later synchronization with Elden Ring sorcery altered his body through controllable crystallization, while contact-based Mind Reading allowed him to acquire detailed knowledge of Aoi Todo’s Simple Domain. 63 68

Mahito’s Idle Transfiguration initially distorted Morien into a Special Grade Transfigured Human, but synchronization converted the altered soul into a controllable form rather than a lasting injury. Morien subsequently used his mask as a transformation belt to create an armored Kamen Rider-like form in which his body and soul fully overlapped, rendering Idle Transfiguration ineffective. 73 74

Morien chose not to prevent Kenjaku from absorbing the defeated Mahito, preferring to observe the consequences of the larger plan. Fortune-Collecting then extracted him from the battlefield. 74

Culling Game

Following his recovery and advancement, Morien entered the Sendai Colony as a Culling Game player. He attempted to use Convert on the administrator Shikigami Scarabs, then deployed Insect Brood throughout the colony as a distributed reconnaissance network. 92

Morien confronted Dhruv Lakdawalla after Dhruv’s Shikigami destroyed several of his insect units. By using his Eyes of Mystery Prying, swarm transformation, implanted eggs, wormhole detonations, and “trajectory worms,” Morien analyzed the structure and limits of Dhruv’s domain in real time. 92 96

During the Sendai conflict, Morien developed and employed Warlock-derived Glintstone spells, including Stone-Tossing Mountain-Hurl, and learned to imitate Ryu Ishigori’s Cursed Energy Discharge through observation and spellcraft. 92 99

Morien later watched Fortune-Collecting defeat Kurourushi through a luck-based domain. The encounter led him to acknowledge that his humanity, his desire for happiness, and his affection for both children and swarm restrain him from using his power to indiscriminately consume others. 102

One-Punch Man Activities

The One-Punch Man incarnation initially survived in Z-City by living near Saitama. Loneliness triggered his Monsterification, granting him a physically enhanced body and the “Déjà Vu” ability that makes weaker people mistake him for someone familiar and trustworthy. 16 17

After restoring Mosquito Girl with his blood and accepting her as his first follower, Morien sought training from Bang. His sparring match with Bang clarified the Melee Scholar acting method: combat, enjoyment, and practical insight matter more than theoretical understanding alone. 29 31 32

Morien learned most of Water Stream Rock Smashing Fist’s movements within several days, although he acknowledged that his technical refinement and martial conviction remained below Bang’s. He later completed the Hero Association registration examination. 33 62

Lands Between Activities

A later incarnation survived three days in an unidentified fog-covered ruin before gaining the Lonely Monster ability. After developing insect-swarm transformation and identifying the world as the Lands Between, he met Thops and became his student. 42 48 49

Morien used Reverse Cursed Technique to restore Thops’s health, mastered all of Thops’s magical knowledge within a month, and encouraged the discarded sorcerer’s research into the connection between sorcery and incantations. 50

He later located Sellen, became her student, and helped restore her physical body. Morien and Sellen supported Thops’s barrier research and agreed to assist Sellen in reclaiming Raya Lucaria Academy. 118 140

Morien’s children’s faith in him produced new stars and prompted Sellen to create a Sacred Seal intended for Incantations that invoke Morien. During the conflict at Raya Lucaria, he adopted the honorific “Face that grants wishes, father of ten thousand swarms.” 140 144

After defeating the illusory Full Moon Queen created by Ranni, Morien gained the Great Rune of the Unborn. He fused it with Propagation as a Great Rune governing Birth, restored a heartbeat to Rennala’s Amber Egg, and gave the artificial humans in the Grand Library the chance to be reborn as complete infants. 146 147

Morien subsequently entered the Roundtable Hold through a Grace visible only to him. There, he met D, Corhyn, and Fia, accepted a map leading toward Gurranq, and arranged for his insect children to study Bestial Incantations. 147

Honkai: Star Rail and Penacony Activities

The Star Rail incarnation initially endured isolation aboard an IPC spaceship, where he became a Pathstrider of Propagation and suffered Entropy Loss. Argenti later rescued him and brought him aboard the Rarely Seen, providing him a secure refuge and passage toward Penacony. 2 53 55

During the voyage, Morien bonded with the insects that separated from his body, treating them as children and integrating them into his Swarm Network. He also investigated the Penacony music box’s hidden message regarding the Clockmaker and the question, “Why does life slumber?” 55 56

Morien entered Penacony with Argenti’s assistance, concealed most of his Insect Brood within an Imaginary Space, and gained access to The Reverie Hotel despite the staff’s suspicions of his mask. 104

In Penacony’s dreamscape, Morien encountered Sparkle, Robin, Stelle, Firefly, Sampo, Rappa, and other figures connected to the Charmony Festival. He refused Robin’s invitation to join the Family or follow Harmony, believing himself insufficiently empathetic and more suited to Elation’s absurdity. 104 106 109 120 126

Morien took part in the battle against Sunday’s Holy Child form but was unable to meaningfully confront the newborn Path directly. He nevertheless helped break through the second dream layer and delay Sunday’s ultimate attack, then deceived Finality by fulfilling the predicted fate of becoming a monster and dying while ultimately surviving through the Synchronization Space. 132

Dragon Raja and Re:Zero Activities

Two additional Moriens entered the Synchronization Space: one from Dragon Raja, who was taken in by an internet café owner in Shilan City, and one from Re:Zero, who survived repeated loops and gained the Divine Protection of Family. 118

The Re:Zero incarnation aided Subaru Natsuki and Emilia against Elsa Granhiert, using insect-based Spirit Magic and tricking Subaru into swallowing Insect Eggs that would hatch only later. 137

The Dragon Raja incarnation organized a StarCraft tournament to lure Lu Mingfei to his internet café, then used his overwhelming processing ability and insect reconnaissance to manipulate the prolonged match. 150

After local thugs attempted to extort him, Dragon Raja Morien used the Great Rune of Birth, Flesh Worms, and his swarm to regenerate a severed hand, animate a knife, and transform the attackers into insect cocoons. He subsequently offered to teach Lu Mingfei and deliberately alerted Cassel College’s artificial intelligence to Lu’s location. 151

Appearance

Morien usually appears as a black-haired Eastern youth wearing an orange-red mask. Though initially ordinary-looking, his body develops fluorescent, crack-like markings associated with Entropy Loss and Propagation. 1 29

• Dense fluorescent markings spread across his face, neck, and body; after stabilizing, they resemble decorative tattoos. 1 47
• His mask can conceal his abnormality and makes observers subconsciously disregard conspicuous details about him. 2 3
• When using Propagation, blue-violet flames and deep-purple butterfly-like particles surround him. 14 25

Personality

Morien is playful, sarcastic, and unusually irreverent toward powerful beings. He mocks the Hidden Sage, treats the Gray Fog with casual familiarity, and uses humor even when negotiating with dangerous Beyonders or facing lethal enemies. 10 40 41

He is highly opportunistic and willing to manipulate others through information, supernatural influence, or carefully constructed deals. His conduct toward Alger, gangsters, and Thops shows considerable moral flexibility, though he is not indifferent to suffering and repeatedly prioritizes protecting his alternate selves from isolation or death. 7 29 34 49

Despite calling himself a Royal Insect and embracing his nonhuman nature, Morien is affectionate toward his offspring. He treats Fortune-Collecting and Qiu Si with pride and parental warmth, even while imposing unreasonable expectations on them. 16 41 43

Morien increasingly treats extreme danger as an opportunity for exhilaration and growth. During his battle with Mr. Z, he deliberately retained the effects of a Death Curse to preserve the sensation of near death and better recreate Black Flash. 82

His kindness is selective and frequently expressed through unsettling methods. He can save people such as Old Neil and restore life through his Great Rune, but he also treats hostile criminals and assassins as experimental material when he believes they pose no meaningful threat. 89 147 151

Despite his self-identification as an insect and his capacity for enormous destruction, Morien values human happiness, innocence, satisfaction, and companionship. He ultimately recognizes that this attachment to humanity is the primary restraint preventing him from treating nations or worlds as food for the swarm. 102 132

Synchronization Space

Morien’s incarnations meet in a black mental space where they can synchronize memories, abilities, knowledge, physical traits, and energy systems.

• Time passes at different rates in each world, while time spent within the space does not consume outside time. 11

Morien can transform the Mask of Joy into a belt and use it to assume an armored combat form.
