Background & History

Xiao Wu first encountered Xiao Lin as a young child shortly after arriving at Nuoding Academy. Unable to sleep in an unfamiliar place, she followed the sound of his flute into the woods and asked him to play Prelude to Water Melody again. Her curiosity was immediately drawn to both Xiao Lin's music and his Nine Phoenix Ceremonial Flute 3.

Over the following six years, she and Xiao Lin cultivated and spent their childhood together. Xiao Wu openly defended him when Tang San belittled his flute Martial Soul and accused him of neglecting cultivation, calling Tang San's hostility unreasonable 4 9. Before Xiao Lin left Nuoding, she urged him to attend Shrek Academy with her; when he instead asked her to go ahead, she reluctantly agreed and made him promise to find her later 9 10.

After reuniting in Heaven Dou City, Xiao Wu's attachment to Xiao Lin became increasingly overt. When Chrysanthemum Douluo came searching for Tang San, Xiao Lin recognized that the Titled Douluo could expose her Soul Beast identity. He brought her the Aromatic Silk Beauty to obscure her aura, then removed her from Shrek Academy before Yue Guan could discover the truth 55 58 59. Xiao Lin subsequently admitted that he had long known she was a Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast and promised to fight anyone who tried to harm her. Moved by his acceptance, Xiao Wu kissed him and declared that he belonged to her 59.

Xiao Wu withdrew from Shrek Academy and chose Heaven Dou Royal Academy, stating that she no longer wished to remain at Shrek 80. When Tang San later infiltrated her room and demanded that she leave with him, she rejected both his offer and his confession, insisting that her relationships were her own choice 85. After Tang San attempted to drug and abduct her, she severed all ties with him; Xiao Lin's intervention further solidified her trust in him 86.

Tang Hao eventually exposed that he had known Xiao Wu's identity and had intended for Tang San to gain her Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Ring and Soul Bone. Faced with Tang Hao's attempt to kill Xiao Lin, Xiao Wu voluntarily sacrificed herself to save him. Her sacrifice healed Xiao Lin, awakened his Three-Life Soul-Suppressing Cauldron, and supplied it with a Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Ring, raising him to Rank 60 87 91.

The sacrifice left Xiao Wu in a critically weakened rabbit form. Xiao Lin preserved hope of reviving her through the Lovesick Heartbreak Red and later retained her soul fragments within himself. He seeks the Crystal Blood Dragon Ginseng to reconstruct her body before her soul dissipates 92 95 96 120.

Appearance

Xiao Wu was introduced as a small girl in a pink dress with a long scorpion braid and large, bright eyes. Six years later, she had grown into a graceful young woman while retaining her distinctive braid, lively expression, and energetic manner 3 9.

Personality

Xiao Wu is lively, candid, and emotionally direct. As a child, she openly approached Xiao Lin because she enjoyed his music; as she grew older, she continued defending him without hesitation when Tang San insulted him 3 4.

She values personal freedom strongly. Tang San's attempts to dictate where she should live, train, or whom she should love are met with firm rejection. Even when he offers protection through Tang Hao, she insists that she alone decides her future 85 86.

Her views on love are shaped by Soul Beast customs rather than human social expectations. She believes Xiao Lin should accept sincere affection from multiple women instead of treating love as a matter of exclusive possession. Her apparent rivalry with Dugu Yan was partly intended to test whether Dugu Yan's feelings were genuine 57 60.
