Background

Liu Wushuang is the Deputy Sect Master of Swordcry Mountain and presides over sect affairs when the Sect Master is in secluded cultivation. Though she maintains the appearance of a beautiful young woman, she is estimated to be at least three to five hundred years old. Her younger sister, Liu Ruyu, is the Palace Master of Swordheart Hall. 27

She and Yun Zhongjun are martial siblings under the Sword Saint, one of the eight experts who once defeated and sealed the Devil Master. This lineage makes Liu a direct inheritor of the Sword Saint’s legacy and places her at the center of efforts to investigate the potential return of the Demon Cult. 49

Rather than immediately exposing Chen Fan, Ye Wan, and Qin Ziyan, she accepts their defense provisionally while retaining her suspicions. 28

Despite her intimidating authority, she has a teasing and informal manner. She mocks Chen Fan’s nervousness, jokes about demanding a bowl of his blood, and openly amuses herself with the rivalry between Ye Wan and Qin Ziyan. 28 39 40

After returning from her travels, Liu presides over Swordcry Mountain’s emergency council following the theft at Hundred Herbs Garden. She gathers testimony concerning the child disappearances, the Heaven and Earth Gate, and Spirit-Drunken Incense. 27

She questions Qin Ziyan’s account closely, notices that Chen Fan’s presence at the main peak is suspicious, and recognizes that both Qin Ziyan and Ye Wan are concealing part of the truth to protect him. She ultimately allows the matter to rest temporarily, praising the younger generation’s loyalty. 28

Encounter with Chen Fan

Liu first meets Chen Fan directly after he is taken to Cloudsea Pavilion. She reveals that she is connected to Black Dragon Pool, warns him not to display Venomheart Darts openly, and gives him the Fire Spirit Sword scabbard. 30

After Chen Fan returns from investigating the conspiracy, Liu visits him secretly, interrogates him about his journey, notices the scars on his wrists, and cryptically hints that she understands more about Spirit-Drunken Incense than she reveals.
