Er Dongsheng carried Belphegor in one hand while lashing out with the other, fleeing into the distance.

"No, don't run this way! Go back! Go back!" Belphegor did not struggle. He stayed in Er Dongsheng's grip, resigned to his fate.

"Go back?"

Er Dongsheng paused and glanced behind him. Dense ranks of Time-Space Gears had spread across the sky. Every so often, a gear comparable to the Thorn Wheel flashed into view.

Endless lightning flickered across the horizon behind them. Thunder raged through the sky as though the Forbidden Zone itself were collapsing.

The earth cracked apart inch by inch. Lava surged from the fissures and flowed in every direction along lines that resembled a Magic Array.

"Behind us is nothing but danger, and you want us to go back? Are you dreaming?" Lilith said through gritted teeth. She did not believe a word Belphegor said.

"It's true! We can only go back. If we keep going, we'll die!" Belphegor said urgently, as though some terrifying danger lay ahead.

Er Dongsheng said nothing and took a few more steps forward. Then his expression changed.

He reached out and struck the empty air. A crack, almost too faint to see, flashed and vanished.

"We're going back!"

Er Dongsheng retreated a few cautious steps, his voice grave.

"My lord?" Lilith and Alastair stared at him in disbelief. Behind them lay a death trap filled with endless danger, yet he wanted to return?

How could that be?
