It was not the sound of the clock ticking in Diabolo's eyes, but water dripping onto the ground.
The Sea Emperor had been snatched into the Portal by that golden arm. He now knelt there in a daze, seemingly unable to grasp that he had nearly died moments ago.
Diabolo looked down at him for a while, then gave a faint, scornful smile and surveyed his surroundings.
The space was not particularly large. A sacred yet frigid ocean aura filled it, while white mist seeped from the cold stone walls, shrouding everything like a fairyland.
A vast, hazy complex stood at its center. Pavilions and towers rose one after another, each radiating a powerful aura. Together, those auras exerted a terrifying pressure.
More intriguing still, the auras converged on the very center, as though Binding something there.
Countless blood-red patterns floated above it, wrapping it in layer upon layer.
Diabolo looked up. At the center of those blood-red patterns, a small sphere of Laws shone like the sun, shedding a gentle light. Waves of oceanic might rolled from it, vast enough to shake the soul.
Beneath that sphere sat a shadowy figure. He looked almost like a spirit, with no solid body to speak of.
Chains shot from his spectral body and bound the little sun fast. With the help of the surrounding pressure, he was drawing the sphere of light toward himself inch by inch, as though he meant to devour it.
"Interesting. He's trying to devour this ocean's natural consciousness?"
