Not far away, great billows of black smoke kept bursting from the ground. Waves of choking sulfur stench forced their way into Er Dongsheng's nose!

"Cough, cough!"

He kicked a dead branch out of his path, then tore a small piece from his leather clothing. With no water available, he could only urinate on it and use it to cover his mouth and nose!

It was the best way to keep out the smoke and dust—simple and practical!

But the smell... you know how it was!!! No person or demon liked the smell of their own urine!

Er Dongsheng had thought a demon's powerful body would have no trouble with the smoke. But the burning sensation in his chest told him clearly that if he charged into those terrifying fumes, he would die. He really would!

"This is only the outskirts of the Land of Death, and it's just venting a little black gas. Yet even smelling it from a distance makes me dizzy. No wonder this dangerous place bears the name of death!"

Looking around the forest at the black gas pouring from the ground, Er Dongsheng could not help sighing. "What a hateful place. The perilous air of despair and death is everywhere!"

Whoosh!

Clang!

At the tip of his tail, an Abyss Scorpion almost the size of a basketball was pinned hard to the ground. The huge creature was still struggling, its tail stinger repeatedly trying to pierce the scales on Er Dongsheng's tail. But those were his toughest scales, most of them covered in mysterious Spirit Runes. This scorpion did not seem capable of piercing them!

Even so, the giant scorpion's dark, sharp barb gleamed, and the sight of that hook, enormous as a steel needle, made Er Dongsheng's scalp
