Ever since he had inexplicably arrived in this world, Baal had never quite trusted his own body.
There was the Flame of Destruction that had appeared so strangely, seemingly tied to the Lord of Destruction; the Ruin Godfire, closely linked to the Destruction God King; and even the Bloodline Rune that had come from "it."
And then there were the even more mysterious Abyss and the hostile Great Universe. They, too, seemed to have left their marks on him.
Perhaps leaving marks on living beings was instinctive for the Abyss and the Universe. The Abyss controlled Demons, while the Universe controlled its native inhabitants. Through those marks, they distinguished their own people.
There seemed to be nothing wrong with that.
But to Baal, his body was his most private concern. He would not allow any outside force to interfere with it. He was simply not the sort to tolerate even a grain of sand in his eye.
He had never completely trusted Destruction and Ruin, despite their near-soul-deep bond with him, or even the system that lay at the heart of everything!
Before, he simply had not known how to deal with these hidden dangers. He had examined himself carefully, but found nothing.
