When activated, the user's pupils contract and tomoe appear around them. Goenji's Three-Tomoe Sharingan is described as making ordinary movement appear slowed down several times. 1

• Shisui Uchiha manifests a skeletal Susanoo powerful enough to shield himself and Goenji from a combined barrage of Water Release and explosive tags. Its use leaves his left eye bleeding. 47
• Obito Uchiha awakens a separate Mangekyō ability later called Jiayu Mirror, which can reflect ninjutsu or physical attacks within his field of vision after analyzing them. 88 112

History

Goenji enters the Third Shinobi World War already possessing a Three-Tomoe Sharingan, awakened by his predecessor after the deaths of his companions. The eye immediately becomes central to his survival: it gives him the perception to detect ambushes, analyze enemies, and build a combat style around observation and rapid adaptation. 1 2

During the war, Goenji uses the Sharingan to improve his Body Flicker, study Kumogakure taijutsu, manipulate shuriken and steel wire, copy swordsmanship, and execute carefully timed basic techniques such as Substitution. 4 6 24 27 Its value also makes him a target; Kumogakure and Kirigakure shinobi repeatedly seek to kill Uchiha users and seize their eyes. 3 47

After Obito's apparent death, Kakashi receives one of Obito's Sharingan as a final gift. Uchiha elders argue that the eye must be reclaimed, but Goenji opposes them, citing Obito's wishes, Kakashi's battlefield value, and the political damage such a seizure would cause. 87 88 89

In the later peaceful era, Orena demonstrates that the Sharingan's emotional evolution continues across a new generation. She awakens one tomoe after being insulted, develops two tomoe during another emotional outburst, and eventually uses a Three-Tomoe Sharingan in combat. 160 161 166

Limitations
