Matatabi let out a piercing roar and staggered back three steps. Her claws gouged deep furrows in the stone tiles, sending fragments flying.
Disbelief flashed in her eyes. She might not have been known for her strength among the Tailed Beasts, but surely two summoned beasts should not have been able to match her.
Besides, she was the bigger one, wasn't she?
Yugito reacted at once. She had Matatabi change tactics: if a head-on clash would not work, they would keep their distance and wear the enemy down with speed and mobility.

The blue-flamed cat sprang backward, her two burning tails sweeping a graceful arc behind her.
She leaped into the air like blue lightning, turned elegantly, and landed without a sound. She was about to attack again from the other side of the Colosseum.
Then a shadow fell over her.

A moment later, Desolate Skeleton's enormous form crawled out of it.
The thirty-meter-tall giant skeleton unfurled in midair. Gray-brown hornlike plating covered every bone, gleaming coldly beneath the midday sun.
Its skeletal hands clenched together and came crashing down toward Matatabi like a meteor. The force of the blow could have smashed a small mountain into a basin.
Matatabi's pupils contracted. A muffled boom burst beneath her feet, sending a visible ring of white air rippling outward as she shot away like blue lightning.
