When the lineup for the third match was announced, the stands fell briefly silent before erupting into cheers and whistles even more fervent than those for the first two matches.
The Hidden Mist Jonin White Hannya versus Konoha Special Jonin Kurenai Yuhi.
One was a female ANBU kunoichi of the Hidden Mist, a master of Water Release and swordsmanship. The other was Konoha's flower of genjutsu, a specialist who had only recently been promoted to Special Jonin.
On top of that, both were rare beauties. When they stood side by side on the arena, the sight left the young men in the stands shouting until their throats smoked.
Whenever some slick-haired merchant's son in the front row stood up and waved a Gunbai, a group of people behind him would immediately drag him back into his seat.
After the announcer called their names, both sides entered the arena.
Kurenai Yuhi walked in from Konoha's side.
Her black curls spilled over her shoulders, and her crimson combat uniform outlined her tall, slender figure. The red eyeshadow at the corners of her eyes tilted slightly upward, and a composed smile played at her lips as she reached the center of the arena.
At the same time, Yuri slowly stepped onto the arena from the opposite side.
Her long hair was tied into a ponytail at the back of her head. She wore the standard ANBU combat uniform and held a standard short sword in each hand, her movements light and aloof.
She had removed her mask for this match. Her lovely face brought the entire stands to silence for a breath.
