"Roar—!!!"
The roar was as deafening as heavenly punishment unleashed by the thunder god, clearly audible even a kilometer away.
The Y Squad, hidden in the shadows, watched the scene quietly from above.
Moonlight poured over the ground like liquid mercury, illuminating the rooftop of the high-rise apartment building where the Y Squad was concealed.
This building was only one street away from the soda factory. Its unobstructed view allowed them to clearly observe everything happening inside.
Yu Xian lounged against the concrete railing at the edge of the rooftop.
The hot night wind howled overhead.
His trench coat snapped loudly in the warm breeze.
Staring at the commotion below, he muttered, "It's time to give General Ross a warning too!"
The members of Y Squad watched the rare spectacle unfolding below as they chatted and laughed on the rooftop.
They watched Banner transform into the Hulk.
They watched the Hulk begin throwing heavy punches.
They watched him send a thug flying with one furious blow.
They watched him slaughter his way through the squad led by Emil Blonsky.
Then, under Emil Blonsky's terrified gaze, they watched him vanish into the darkness as he retreated.
Having enjoyed the show, the members of Y Squad immediately erupted.
"God, Captain, that's the target we're supposed to protect?
Did the Director eat too many boiled eggs and fry his brain?
That guy needs our protection?
More like he should be protecting us, right?"
Catalina stared at Yu Xian in utter disbelief, her heart filled with shock.
What the hell was that thing?
Wasn't that combat power even greater than the Captain's?
The blonde girl's mind was filled with the faint green glow that had appeared in Dr. Banner's eyes.
His green skin, bulging muscles, shredded clothes, and the image of that green muscular giant left wearing only a pair of underwear.
As she recalled how that furious giant had seemed to knock out one child after another with a single punch, charging head-on through every kind of military shell and destroying every enemy in front of him,
she could vaguely understand why the Director wanted to recruit Dr. Banner into the Avengers.
Someone who could easily destroy an army had to be kept under watch to put people at ease.
"Is this what the hidden side of the world really looks like?"
As a member of Rising Tide, Skye
quietly watched the soda factory that had been destroyed before her.
Steel pipes several meters high had been bent flat, while storage tanks had been blasted inward, leaving behind enormous fist marks.
Thinking of Banner's body rapidly expanding like an inflated balloon and turning into that child of rage, the hacker girl felt as if she were riding a roller coaster, her emotions rising and falling violently.
Once again, she felt fortunate that she had signed that thirty-year contract selling herself away.
If she had not signed it, she might never have encountered such extraordinary sights in her entire life.
And recalling the casual conversations between Captain Yu Xian and the other team members earlier,
she learned that the dark side of this world actually contained many superpowered individuals and powerful humans.
Some used technology, some had undergone genetic mutations, and some had awakened their abilities naturally.
This world was truly incredible. If only I could become one of them too.
"This ability?"
As a genius mage from the Age of Gods, the witch Medea sensed that the retreating green figure still possessed immense power that had yet to be unleashed.
Yet merely the slightest trace of energy that had been stirred had already leveled everything before him.
If he could further awaken the potential within his body, reaching the realm of demigods would be easy. Even attaining the level of a chief god was not impossible.
The witch's violet eyes remained fixed on the retreating figure.
If... if I could control this power,
her Age of Gods magecraft would improve further. Perhaps she could break through the shackles of demigodhood and reach the realm of the gods.
But,
for now, she still needed that lazy fellow to grow stronger as soon as possible and sever the shackles binding her.
Yu Xian suddenly felt a chill rise across his skin, as though some inexplicable gaze had fallen on him. When he turned around, however, he found nothing unusual.
Skye and Catalina were enthusiastically discussing and reviewing what they had seen, while Medea was looking into the distance.
How strange. Had he eaten too much and upset his stomach?
Forget it. Since Banner had already retreated, it was time for them to make their entrance.
"Ladies, let's go. It's our turn to take the stage."
Slums, temporary military command post.
"Sir, just what kind of person did you send us to capture?"
"What exactly happened there just now?"
"How did such a huge thing suddenly appear and attack us?"
"That bastard threw a forklift as easily as if he were tossing a softball!"
"Do you know something?"
General Ross silently watched his subordinate Emil Blonsky question him, saying nothing.
After a long while,
his eyes met Emil Blonsky's.
"As you saw, that thing was Banner!"
"You performed very well just now!"
"Tell everyone to pack up. We're leaving."
Without explaining why, General Ross departed beneath Emil Blonsky's gaze, which was filled with shock, jealousy, and ambition.
He went alone to the rooftop to get some air.
Ross stood on the rooftop and gazed at the night view outside, his mind weighed down by worries.
Then a sudden voice rang out from the rooftop.
"Worthy of General Ross indeed. Even after failing, you're still so calm!"
Hearing the mocking voice, Ross narrowed his eyes and silently placed his right hand on the grip of the gun at his waist.
He spun around sharply and saw four distinct figures standing at the edge of the rooftop beneath the moonlight.
The man at the front crouched in a lazy pose.
His hands rested backward on the sheathed sword propped behind his neck, a posture resembling Sun Wukong's iconic stance on his journey to the west.
The night wind stirred his black hair, but it could not conceal those abyss-like eyes that seemed to see through everything.
Behind him stood three women, each with her own distinct characteristics.
On the left stood a woman in a purple gown.
Her long dress danced in the breeze. A purple veil covered half her face, while her violet eyes and purple hair gave her an air of mystery that did not belong to the modern age.
On the right stood a girl in powered armor.
Her entire body was wrapped in lightweight combat armor of pink, black, and gold, outlining her perfect figure. At a glance, it bore a striking resemblance to Iron Man's armor from the news.
The last was a black-haired girl wearing a smiling mask. She held a tablet in her hands, her fingers flying rapidly across its screen.
"Who exactly are you? What do you want?"
Ross demanded, secretly trying to notify the subordinates outside.
"Us?"
"General Ross, we are an agent squad under S.H.I.E.L.D."
"Y-Sector!!!"
