Yugito first appears as a three-year-old attending a Ninja Academy event with her mother. Despite her age, she is unusually mature and determined. She asks the Third Raikage for help taking revenge on Konoha’s White Fang, whom she considers responsible for killing her father. Her seriousness causes the Raikage to treat her request respectfully rather than dismissing it as childish anger 12.

Chiba Shun initially considers taking Yugito as a disciple because of her talent and possible future as the Two-Tails’ Jinchūriki. He later becomes known for engineering the downfall of the White Fang, which makes Yugito admire him. Her mother distrusts Chiba’s scheming reputation and initially prevents Yugito from contacting him, but Yugito eventually sneaks into the Ninja Academy to seek him out herself 43 44.
