The girl beside her, Xiao Yi, held a Skitty in her arms and said, "I'm the one entering the Pokémon Contest! Saori came along to keep me company!"

Hu Yang pictured Wallace, the top Coordinator, in his mind.

He had never seen a real Pokémon Contest before. After thinking it over, he nodded. "Sure."

And so, Hu Yang temporarily joined the team made up of the two girls.

There were still three days until the Pokémon Contest, and Hu Yang had originally planned to continue looking for people to battle.

But Saori said they also needed to conduct move training for the upcoming Pokémon Contest, so they could do it together.

Before that, however, they needed to visit Professor Cozmo, who lived in town.

So Hu Yang followed the two of them to a mansion.

The door soon opened, and a plain-looking middle-aged man wearing glasses came out.

This had to be Professor Cozmo, who had worked with Team Magma and Team Aqua to excavate meteorites in Meteor Falls in the games.

[A Gallade Evolution Stone. When held by Gallade, it allows Gallade to Mega Evolve into Mega Gallade during battle.]

[An unknown meteorite from outer space. It contained abundant energy and possessed the miraculous ability to let Deoxys change forms.]

"Cough..." Hu Yang could not hold it in and choked on his tea.

"What's wrong?" The two people who had been chatting turned to look at him.

Hu Yang waved awkwardly. "Nothing, nothing. I just accidentally choked."

Professor Cozmo was easygoing and laughed heartily. "No need to rush. It's fine to drink slowly."

Hu Yang was not in a rush.

He just had not expected this house to contain so many treasures.

"Professor, did you dig all these stones out of Meteor Falls?"

Before Hu Yang could speak, Xiao Yi pointed at a strangely shaped stone and asked.

Professor Cozmo smiled and nodded. "That's right. A meteorite impact happened at Meteor Falls, and after that, many meteorites appeared there."

Hu Yang listened with great envy.

No wonder America in that world had been able to stir up such a massive gold rush back then.

Because this sort of thing was truly irresistible!

No, he had to visit Meteor Falls and see whether he could find any rare stones to sell for money. That way, he would have the money to raise a second Pokémon!

Dig for stones, make money, catch new Pokémon!

Hu Yang could no longer sit still. At that moment, he finally understood how Steven felt about stones.

However, Steven was driven purely by interest, while he was driven by money!

Professor Cozmo began telling them the legends passed down at Meteor Falls.

"A very, very long time ago, meteor showers streaked across the night sky, while Groudon and Kyogre fought day and night without end. Their battle shook the earth and overturned the seas."

"The Hoenn continent nearly perished because of it, but fortunately, the ancient Pokémon Rayquaza intervened and stopped them."

"A thousand years later, a meteor fell upon what is now Sootopolis City, and the meteorite's energy awakened Groudon and Kyogre."

"The inheritor of that time stood upon the Rainbow Stone and made a Wish for Rayquaza's return. Legend says that because of the power of that Wish, Rayquaza's appearance underwent a new transformation."

"Rayquaza's appearance once again stopped the battle between the god of land and the god of sea. After the fierce battle, Groudon and Kyogre returned to the depths of the land and sea, while Rayquaza returned to the sky."

"The Draconids built Sky Pillar to commemorate their god, and they also prophesied that, a thousand years later, another meteorite would be about to strike the world."

"And when that moment arrived, the Draconids would summon Rayquaza once again to protect this planet."

"Wow, that's amazing!" Xiao Yi's face lit up with excitement. "Are those stories from the legends all true?"

"Do Rayquaza, Groudon, and Kyogre really exist in this world?" Saori asked as well.

After all, those events in the legends had happened a thousand years ago, and no one had seen Groudon or Kyogre in that entire millennium.

"Of course they exist!" Professor Cozmo's eyes shone with fervor. "I study meteorites precisely to uncover the truth of the Draconids. When Groudon and Kyogre awaken, I'll summon Rayquaza to save this world!"

Saori twitched the corner of her mouth. "Uncle, you're already in your forties. Saving the world should be left to young people."

Professor Cozmo smiled sheepishly.

Hu Yang, meanwhile, was focused on something else. "Professor, you said just now that the power of a Wish changed Rayquaza's appearance?"

Upon hearing that, Professor Cozmo revealed a mysterious smile.

"That's right! We call that form Mega Evolution! Evolution beyond evolution! And let me tell you something else: there's a very good chance this can happen to other Pokémon too!"

He looked at Saori. "For example, your Combusken."

"What?" Saori was somewhat astonished. "How is that possible?"

Cozmo said, "I have a friend in Kalos who is researching this. I believe that within ten years, we'll definitely uncover the truth behind Rayquaza's new form!"

Hu Yang: "..."

That friend in Kalos... could he be talking about Sycamore?

And ten years was way too long?!

Wouldn't the Gardevoir Evolution Stone on him have to gather dust for ten years?!
