After listening to Gla Tony explain some ancient mechanisms, Werther felt he had learned a great deal.

The man was a little weak, but he was undoubtedly an expert in the field. He had explained all sorts of mechanisms to Werther.

Werther had not retained much, but it was still good to learn about them.

Seeing that enough time had passed, Werther slowly entered the Ancient Laboratory.

The smell inside was still strange, though not as bad as before. When Werther stepped into the laboratory's main hall, he found a vast room lined with enormous cylindrical glass containers.

Every container was empty. Only dust remained at the bottom. Whatever experimental creatures they had once held had evidently crumbled to ash with the passage of time.

Werther did not linger. He crossed the experimental hall and entered a wide passage.

It was a passage only compared with the enormous hall behind him. All sorts of instruments filled it, but apart from their steel frames, they had turned to dust.

Looking at the decrepit laboratory, Werther doubted he would find anything worthwhile.

Even if experimental records had once existed here, time had probably reduced them to dust.

But since he had come this far, he might as well explore the whole place.

Treating it like a leisurely excursion, Werther reached the innermost part of the laboratory.

The room was not very large. It looked like someone's quarters rather than a place for experiments. At its center, however, stood a tall steel pillar densely covered in writing.

Werther thought this might be the only thing he gained from the trip, so he began to read carefully.
