Hearing what those brats in the room were saying, Werther was speechless.
"What a bunch of little hellions. Why do I feel like some throwaway extra they can beat without even trying?"
Werther muttered a curse and turned away. He hadn't saved the children to earn their gratitude.
If he could avoid it, Werther wouldn't even meet them.
He had saved them to ruin Big Mom's plans. Where the two of them stood was perfectly clear.

Werther took a Den Den Mushi he had never called before out of his pocket watch, lifted the receiver, and dialed.
"Brrring, brrring, brrring..."
No one answered for a long while. Werther began to wonder whether the man had thrown his Den Den Mushi away. He had been through a major upheaval, after all.
Just as Werther was about to give up, the call connected.
"Crunch, crunch..."
Before Werther could speak, he heard someone chewing.
The man really had changed. Or had laying down his burdens simply made him that much more relaxed?
"I never thought you'd call me. I figured you'd thrown that Den Den Mushi away! Hahaha!"
The hearty laugh sounded so unfamiliar that Werther could hardly believe this
