"K-Kaido's heart was ripped out. Doesn't that mean..."
"A new Emperor has emerged. I never thought the Thunder Swordsman could actually defeat Kaido."
"You've got to be kidding. If someone that brutal becomes one of the Four Emperors, won't we have to fight him someday?"
The spectators on the shore erupted into an uproar.
Werther wasn't having an easy time either. The move he had just used had drained nearly all the Lightning from his Thunder Core.
But it had been worth it. He had killed Kaido. Werther refused to believe Kaido could survive having his heart ripped out.
"Kaido, if you can survive without a heart, I'll admit you've got me beat."
Kaido stood frozen, blood spilling steadily from the corner of his mouth.
Werther looked at him, then turned toward the shore.
Just then, Werther sensed Kaido move behind him—and at considerable Speed.
His Observation Haki instantly picked up Kaido's movement. Kaido was throwing a punch at his head.
Werther's first thought was that he had let his guard down. Kaido was making one last desperate attack.
It was too late to turn, so he could only coat his head in Armament Haki.
Boom!
Kaido's punch sent Werther flying. He tumbled across the ground several times before stopping, looking rather worse for wear.
The spectators on the shore fell silent, staring at Kaido in shock.
The horrific wound in Kaido's chest was slowly healing. A dozen or so seconds later, it had closed completely.
But after that recovery, his bulging muscles looked slightly diminished. The change was almost imperceptible, yet Kaido himself looked drained.
It seemed regenerating a heart was no easy feat for him.
Werther shook his head, scattering the dust that had settled in his hair.
Apart from some dizziness, he hadn't suffered any serious injury.
