Sanjuan Wolf turned his enormous body, and the casual movement destroyed a swath of buildings on the Island.
By now, the town on the Island was a wreck. Sanjuan Wolf had flattened countless buildings underfoot.
"You hippo. Even with death staring you in the face, you've still got an appetite. I'll kill you as a greeting gift for Blackbeard."
Werther's icy voice came from above. Sanjuan Wolf looked up at the Giant Eagle.
"Who are you? How dare you cut me? Do you want to die?"
As he spoke, Sanjuan Wolf reached a massive hand toward Werther. But the King of the Sky was ready. It beat its wings and deftly dodged the attack.
Clearly, Sanjuan Wolf didn't recognize Werther. He had seen him only once during the Summit War, and a year had passed since then. His none-too-sharp mind had forgotten what Werther looked like.
Newspapers often reported Werther's exploits, but Sanjuan Wolf never read them. He couldn't, even if he wanted to. The pages were smaller than his fingernails; he couldn't even pick one up.
"That's Werther, the Thunder Swordsman! I've seen him in the newspaper. Is he going to kill that Monster?"
"This is great! Let those two Monsters fight it out. If the Thunder Swordsman kills him, we'll be saved!"
The civilians on the Island, who had been all but hopeless, actually cheered when they saw Werther.
Werther's reputation wasn't exactly good, but he didn't eat people. Compared with Sanjuan Wolf, the islanders would much rather have him come out on top.
The cheers kept coming, much to Werther's surprise. No one had ever cheered him on in a fight before, and for a moment, he didn't know what to make of it.
